Chicago Bears News - It was a cold Chicago morning when former Chicago Bears defensive end Israel Idonije ’took the plunge‘ and dove into the water.  This was, of course, for the Polar Plunge as he joined Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and the host of late night television Jimmy Fallon on March 2nd to swim in the cold for charity. The Israel Idonije Foundation The former Bears defensive lineman is known in Chicago for his character as he is involved in his own charity aptly named The Israel Idonije Foundation. It has several programs that help young children get involved in sports and the community. The foundation reaches all the way across the world to help people in Africa get proper medical care and proper football training. Idonije has been involved in charity work for some time. Since 2007 his foundation has served almost 6,000 children around the globe. It’s in line with similar charities many Chicago Bears are involved with to give back to the community. Israel Idonije Football Career Israel Idojine played for the Chicago Bears from 2004 to 2012 and now plays for the Detroit Lions. He has 209 total tackles, 29 sacks and 6 forced fumbles in his career.
