Fred Taylor’s stay with the Patriots was disappointing. The veteran RB battled through injuries and had just 106 carries through two seasons. Still, Taylor left with good feelings, as you saw earlier, and he is still a leadership influence on current players. I didn’t quite realize how highly he thought of Patriots coach Bill Belichick until yesterday, though. I mean, I knew he liked it in New England. But this was pretty strong. Taylor spoke with Yahoo! Sports’ The Post Game about the firing of his old Jacksonville coach Jack Del Rio, saying Del Rio was “not a head coach.” He also spoke on how much gray area there was with Del Rio and broke down how he lost players. As for Belichick? Listen to Taylor describe his feelings. I can’t think of a better compliment for a coach. “Ninety percent of my enjoyment in New England was due to Coach Belichick — the respect he demanded,” Taylor told the site. “If you were the vet or the first-year guy, he yelled at you the same, chewed you out the same.
