TEAMS:
Pittsburgh Steelers
Former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kordell Stewart officially retired on Wednesday, saying he needed closure nearly seven years after playing his final NFL down.
The 39-year-old planned to sign a one-day contract with Pittsburgh before walking away to give his football career a sense of finality.
Stewart played for the Steelers in eight of his 11 seasons, becoming a sensation in the late-1990s when his versatility as a quarterback, running back, wide receiver and kick returner earned him the nickname ''Slash.'' He helped Pittsburgh to the 1996 Super Bowl and made the Pro Bowl as a quarterback in 2001 after leading Pittsburgh to a 13-3 record.
The former Colorado star split time between Chicago and Baltimore over his final three seasons, last playing as a backup with the Ravens in 2005.

The Pittsburgh Steelers second OTA session of the 2012 season started on Tuesday and once again restricted free agent wide receiver Mike Wallace remains unsigned and away from the team. Finally: Sean Spence signs with Steelers
And then there was one. Now that third-round pick ILB Sean Spence is locked up for four years, David DeCastro is the only draft pick that the Steelers need to sign – rumor has it it’s going to happen soon.
The Steelers picked Spence because they had a huge need at the inside backer position with James Farrior getting released and Larry Foote getting slower and balder. A lot...
“Battle of the bulge”: Steelers McLendon vs Ta’amu vs Hampton
As we remember our soldiers this past Memorial Day weekend, I was thinking also about a topic to write about. I tend to do that a lot, multi tasking. While surfing through Google (man Mr. Google is amazing isn’t he?) I came across some information and quotes on Steelers 3rd yr NT Steve McLendon. However before going any further let’s be clear, by referencing a military topic...
Ike Taylor gives Mike Wallace contract advice
Mike Wallace is still looking for a big money, long-term contract from the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Steelers still aren't willing to cough up the kind of cash Wallace thinks he deserves. There's nothing new on that front. Ike Taylor's message to Mike Wallace is new, and it's a message Wallace may want to consider heavily in the coming weeks.
If Mike Wallace...
Rebel In The NFL: Run The Ball
By Jeremy Hritz
Western Pennsylvania is a hard-nosed area, and its beloved football team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, embody that description. Traditionally, the Steelers have been known as three-yards-and-a-cloud-of-dust team. Since Ben Roethlisberger has joined the team, the Steelers have slowly evolved into a pass-first offense, for better or for worse.
After the 2009 season when...

Steelers need to sign Max Starks…eventually
Ever since the draft, we’ve spent more time talking about the Steelers’ offensive line than we have talking about the Mike Wallace situation. Part of that is because we’re sick of the Mike Wallace situation but it’s mainly because even without a trade or a significant signing, the O-Line is going to look completely different form last year’s.
Maybe Willie Colon will be...
