Found April 03, 2013 on NFL Draft Zone:
One of the strongest players you will find in the 2013 NFL Draft, Northern Michigan DE Zach Anderson reminds of Minnesota Vikings Pro Bowl DE Jared Allen. Both are rugged 270+ pound pass rushers with outstanding brute strength. Anderson’s weight room capabilities can even be found on Youtube (go check). As a senior Anderson had 71 total tackles with 40 solo tackles and 31 assisted tackles. He had 10 tackles-for-loss, one sack and an interception. Zach was invited to the NFL Regional Combine, which he is looking forward to attending in a few short days. Before that, it was my pleasure to interview him for NFL Draft Zone. Shaun DePasquale: Thank you for taking the time to speak with me today Zach. Can you tell me where you’re training for the NFL Draft? Zach Anderson: Im Currently training at AdvantEdge Sports facility in Marquette, MI, where we are training in the Westside Barbell method under Louie Simmons Program. SD: What do you feel are your strengths and things you may need to work on? ZA: Strength’s for me would be my never stop attitude, physical strength and speed for being 275 pound guy. I’ve played 3 years in a 3-4 defense as well as as a 4-3 in my final year. Weaknesses would have to be technique. I’m a raw player and coming from a small D2 school I have been through 5 different d-line coaches in the past 4 and a half years at Northern Michigan. But I’m a quick learner so I’m confident at the next level that I can learn and adapt quickly. SD: How do you feel your time at Northern Michigan helped you prepare for the NFL? ZA: I think the biggest thing Northern taught me was how to adapt to different situations and adapt quickly. Going through multiple coaching changes. I’ve had to learn all positions on the defensive line including both 3-4 and 4-3 defenses. SD: What do you feel you bring to an NFL defense? ZA: I feel I bring a different element to a defense. I can play standing up or hand in the dirt. What I lack in height make up with speed. I’m willing to play any position a team wants me to play. I bring speed, power and a hard-working attitude to any team that takes me. SD: Have you received any feedback from NFL scouts? ZA: I’ve received feedback from Rams, Chiefs, and Eagles. SD: Have you been invited to any All-Star games or Combines? ZA: I was invited to the National Bowl Game in Allentown, PA where I received the Defensive Player of the Game award. Also invited to the Ohio vs Michigan bowl which I had to decline due to my participation in the upcoming Super Regional in Dallas, TX. I wasn’t invited to the Combine in Indianapolis. But I worked my way through regionals and have been invited to Super Regional April 6-8th. SD: What has been your greatest accomplishment, athletically or personally ? ZA: My greatest accomplishment would have to be just where I am today. I came from a small school in a small town. Played college ball for another small D2 school and went from a nobody to a 1st Team All-Conference player and now looking at NFL possibilities. SD: If you could have dinner with any 3 people, living or otherwise, who would they be and why? ZA: Jared Allen DE from the Vikings. Jared has been my favorite player since I can remember. Deion Sanders, Just his personality would amuse me haha. Last I would have Si Robertson From Duck Dynasty. The dude cracks me up more than a professional comedian does! SD: Give me the name of a teammate that doesn’t get nearly enough recognition. ZA: My Teammate Jace Daniels. He’s a 205 pound guy training with me through the NFL Process. He has to be the most athletic 300 pound guy I’ve ever seen! SD: What message would you like to send to NFL teams about Zach Anderson? ZA: I am a hard working, never-quit person. I’ve been proving myself on the field since little league and nothing will stop me from proving I belong at the next level. I’m coachable and willing to learn and willing to adapt to any situations thrown my way. SD: Last question, what would be your first purchase with an NFL paycheck? ZA: My first purchase would probably be a car. Of course that’s after I pay off my student loans haha. SD: Thank you so much for your time Zach. Good luck in your journey!
