Tom Brady, fresh off of a 50 touchdown MVP season in 2007 made the Patriots and their high octane offense the pre-season favorites to reach Super Bowl 43. Despite losing to the Giants in Super Bowl 42 after an undefeated 16-0 campaign, football pundits everywhere had the Patriots penciled in as a virtual lock to reach the title game again but the unthinkable happened. Midway into the first quarter of the first game of the 2008 season, Tom "Terrific" suffered a season ending knee injury and it was thought that New England wouldn't even make the playoffs.
