The Atlanta Falcons finished 13-3 last season, but that doesn’t mean the team is going to sit back during free agency. One of the weaknesses of the Falcons defense was its pass rush. John Abraham forced 13 sacks, but next on that list was Jonathan Babineaux with four and the rest of the defense was responsible for 15.
To remedy the situation, Atlanta signed pass rushing defensive end Ray Edwards to a five year deal worth $30 million. Edwards has picked up 8.5 and 8.0 sacks the past two seasons, and he has 29.5 sacks in his five year career. Those are promising numbers and seeing him opposite John Abraham on third downs is going to intimidate passers.
