NFL Injury Report:
Atlanta Falcons cornerback Asante Samuel exited last night’s
preseason game after suffering a thigh injury, according to D. Orlando
Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
#Falcons CB Asante Samuel had a thigh injury. His return is questionable.

At the time of his injury, Samuel was questionable to
return. He was replaced by second-round draft pick Robert Alford.
Beyond his early exit, little is known of Samuel’s injury.
The Falcons, who open the regular season in two weeks, are likely to proceed
cautiously with Samuel no matter the extent of the injury, but it’s not clear
if it will threaten his availability for Week 1.
What is clear is Samuel’s importance to the Falcons. He
appeared in 15 games for the team last season, intercepting five passes over
that span. He’s been one of the top cornerbacks in the NFL over his career, and
he’s specifically known for his ability to make plays.
Alford is listed as the Falcons’ top backup for Samuel, but
the rookie struggled mightily after replacing him last night. He got beat for
three touchdown passes and was called for a penalty that wasn’t accepted because
he gave up a 56-yard gain on the play. He did collect one interception, but he
missed an opportunity for another.

The hunger to win The Super Bowl for every player in the NFL is an insatiable famine. Combine that fact with an extraordinarily talented, starving and thirsty unit, add in a freshly acquired future hall of fame member with no winning seasons during his elongated career, then augment another championship deprived future hall of fame member into the monster; and there lies a creature...
The Atlanta Falcons currently sit at 0-3 this pre-season, and although this useless record means absolutely nothing going into the upcoming regular season, there are a few issues that are developing from the three matchups that have been played so far; namely, that quarterback Dominique Davis has looked a bit shaky during his time on the field.
Davis, in his second season with the...

Atlanta Falcons – Atlanta looks like they could be the class of the NFC in 2013. They upgraded at running back with Steven Jackson and will benefit greatly from having Tony Gonzalez in the fold for another season. Look for Julio...
The third preseason game of the year is commonly referred to as the dress rehearsal for the regular season. It's the game in which the starters are going to get the most reps, and halftime adjustments will be made by the coaching staff. If what we saw from the Atlanta Falcons last week was a dress rehearsal, they are nowhere near ready for opening night.
The Falcons came out and got off to
Here are four observations from the Falcons' 27-16 loss to the Tennessee Titans, dropping them to 0-3 in the preseason:1. Offensive line looks worrisome
Maybe Titans senior assistantdefense Gregg Williams is a miracle worker. Maybe a more sophisticated game plan or pulling out all of the tricks in terms of pass protection will help. Or maybe the Falcons have something to worry...
The third pre-season game is where you get to see your starters for an extended period of time and you generally start to see the team coming together for better or worse. If that's the case, then after this performance by the Falcons, I'm in desperate need of a Neuralyzer.
First the good. The Falcons won the first quarter 6-0 and their first three drives took...
The Tennessee Titans are busy trying to learn how to win games. The Atlanta Falcons are happy they have a couple more weeks left before the regular season.
Jake Locker played one of his best games yet, throwing for 133 yards and a touchdown in helping Tennessee beat the Falcons 27-16 Saturday night. The Titans (1-2) also showed some of the aggressive defense they've been honing...
Jake Locker threw for 133 yards and a touchdown, and Tennessee sacked Matt Ryan five times Saturday night as the Titans beat the Atlanta Falcons 27-16.
Locker got both his first TD and the first turnover this preseason for the Titans. The third-year quarterback also posted his best game yet as he completed 11 of 13 passes and finished with a 134.9 passer rating before leaving after...

The Atlanta Falcons overachieved and underachieved at the same time last season. While they finished with the best record in the NFC at 13-3, they didn’t play well in the playoffs (or really even show up). Seattle nearly beat them, and the team fell horribly flat against San Francisco.
So while the Falcons don’t have too much work to do (to remain one...
