Tonight the Atlanta Falcons travel to Detroit to play a Lions team that is realign as their season gets more and more depressing. On paper, this should be a blowout, but as the Texans found out on Thanksgiving, the Lions are no push over. For those of you that are fans of NFL betting over the internet, the Falcons aren't a heavily favored team in this game, being given the nod by between 3 and 4.5 points. If the Lions show up, it'll be a great game. The Lions have no post season aspirations. The closest the Lions will get to the big game is through Super Bowl betting, but with their luck, they wouldn't be making any extra money for the bank. At just 4-10, their season has snowballed after a rough, but promising start. The Falcons are the exact opposite. They haven't been the most impressive team this season, but they've been consistent enough to run away with a tough division, the NFC South. Their goal is to get through the next two weeks without any injuries and with the top spot in the NFC. A win tonight by the Falcons would clinch the NFC's top seed, and likely allow the Falcons to rest many of their starting players in the regular season finale. The Lions don't have any postseason aspirations, but that doesn't mean they won't compete. Jim Schwartz is looking for a way to keep his job another year, and beating one of the best teams in the league could be the win he needs. This is one of those games where you should ignore the records of the teams involved. The Lions are 4-10, but they can compete with any team in the league, but they'll need to actually show up early if they hope to keep it close. [follow]
