The signing of Matt Ryan to a long-term, high guaranteed money deal sends a clear message to Michael Vick and the NFL's largest black ticket base: Vick's not coming back as a QB under any circumstances.

  • Dude. I gotta say that THAT was a ridiculous way to send a message - IF the money was about the message. I don't get it. What has Matt Ryan done in the pros to warrant such a contract? Largest in rookie history? Please. This is precisely why the Falcons are such a historically bad franchise.

  • Thumbs up... And...
  • Paying this much money to anyone who hasn't played a down is just flat retarded in my eyes. I know they have to because that is what the market has turned into but from a purely business prospective its just dumb. Good Luck Matt.
  • Thumbs up... I'd much rather go to FIVE tailgates all season. Join us Mountain?

  • But do you have a grill? No meats, no KatKat.

  • I wrote the article. The only way it makes sense is if Blank is SURE 2010 will be uncapped and all contracts will be scrapped. Then he gets top send the message and have none of the risk. All he'd really have committed to is a three-year run with a 3rd pick QB - in other words, what he'd already committed to.
  • Vick will be back in the league...a team is always willing to take a chance

  • I don't know why, but I see it happening in Dallas.

  • Come on, now, FIVE. You know he's not coming back at QB. He'll be a receiver. In Dallas (he he).

  • Yeah, I didn't mean as QB. He'll have to prove himself at another position and serve as emergency QB on a team with a solid starter and backup. Like Dallas.

Plus Terry Glenn is kind of old and Sam Hurd and Patrick Crayton are servicable, but definitely not gamebreakers. There's a spot there for him.
  • Don't tell me you're not excited to see the Mike Vick bubble screen, Mike Vick end around, Mike Vick end around option pass, Mike Vick throwback end around, etc.
  • Vicks all ready playing pro in the Prison League...lol

  • sadly, i think that he will be back in the league as a starting QB. there are always teams bad and desperate enough for a new QB. and ofcourse, the strange rend space/time continuem in Tampa that makes every available QB magically appear on the roster may well suck him up...
  • I can't wait to see Vick back in the league. He made a mistake, is paying for it hansomely, and deserves a chance for redemption. Comeback story of the decade in 3 years!

    Free Mike Vick!
  • If the message is "Id rather have no season ticket sell outs and I'd like all of the home games blacked out because of NFL rules, I don't want anymore national games, and I don't want y'all to buy anymore Falcons merchandise"....then that message was clearly received.

  • I agree with fiverings. My Vick jersey is now being used at my vet's office to clean the kennels. I am a Falcon fan, have been for 20 years. I would never have continued to follow the Falcons if they brought Michael Vick back to the team. I am all for Matt Ryan and moving forward, WITHOUT Michael Vick. He's a monster who deserves everything he is getting, and MORE.
