Rich Cimini of ESPN New York reports that “spies” around the league have informed him that Jets free agent RB Shonn Greene is generating interest from the Falcons and Broncos. Greene, an unrestricted free agent, is not expected back in New York after four years with the team. The Jets are believed to be targeting a speedy compliment to pair with Bilal Powell either in free agency or the draft. The Falcons are expected to release Michael Turner and are expected to be looking for a compliment to speedster Jacquizz Rodgers. Greene is basically a younger version of Turner, but with less mileage and ability. Denver is still deciding whether or not retain either Willis McGahee or Knowshon Moreno, so Greene could give them a decent power back to go with Ronnie Hillman or Moreno. The interest in Greene is most likely derived from the expectation that he’ll be a reasonable value on the open market.
