ESPN’s Adam Schefter was asked about what the Atlanta Falcons will do this offseason with safety William Moore and cornerback Brent grimes. Schefter believes the Falcons could end up placing the franchise tag on Moore. It’s tough to franchise Grimes coming off the Achilles injury, Hank, but Moore would be a prime candidate for a franchise tag. For starters, safety franchise tags are very affordable and it would ensure that Atlanta would get to retain a player that meant an awful lot to its secondary. The Falcons would like to bring back Grimes, but he’s coming off a significant injury that will prevent Atlanta and others from rewarding him with the type of contract he could have gotten if he was healthy. Grimes might look to sign a one-year deal worth a decent amount of money, which allows him the chance to get back to playing and proving he is worth the big money he could have gotten. I agree with Schefter, it wouldn’t make sense to tag Grimes.  It might be smart for the Falcons to let Grimes walk after suffering such a serious injury.   Need NFL Tickets? var _CI = _CI || {}; (function() { var script = document.createElement('script'); ref = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; _CI.counter = (_CI.counter) ? _CI.counter + 1 : 1; document.write(''); script.type = 'text/javascript'; var _CI = _CI || {}; (function() { var script = document.createElement('script'); ref = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; _CI.counter = (_CI.counter) ? _CI.counter + 1 : 1; document.write(''); script.type = 'text/javascript'; script.src = 'http://widget.crowdignite.com/widgets/27484?_ci_wid=_CI_widget_'+_CI.counter; script.async = true; ref.parentNode.insertBefore(script, ref); })();

Thomas DeCoud's x-ray doesn't look right

Instagram / twentyate28 If former 49ers’ great Ronnie Lott had Thomas DeCoud’s middle finger, he might cut it off. DeCoud, a free safety for the Atlanta Falcons, damaged his finger in the final regular season game against Tampa Bay on Dec. 30. DeCoud since suffered through a playoff win over Seattle, the NFC Championship Game loss to San Francisco and the Pro Bowl. That’s right...

Brent Grimes may not fit in the Falcons plans

The Atlanta Falcons have been here before. Brent Grimes is slated for free agency in 2013, the same result after slapping a franchise tag on the cornerback in 2012. Grimes played only one whole game for the Falcons this season before ending his season with a torn Achilles tendon. The undersized corner at 5’10, excels in bump-and-run coverage and is on of the top corners on the...

Local report links Falcons with Los Angeles

It wasn't long ago that the city of Atlanta lost the Thrashers to Winnipeg. Now, Atlanta-based fox five is saying that there is a group in Los Angeles that is interested in purchasing the Atlanta Falcons. My take? ESPN Senior Writer Adam Schefter is reporting that the Rams have changed their minds and will not name Rob Ryan defensive coordinator.   I’m not really sure what happened, but reports are that after several discussions, he and Jeff Fisher could not agree on a defensive philosophy. I guess that five minutes of being unemployed will drag on.
