Free agent defensive tackle Aubrayo Franklin is visiting the Atlanta Falcons on Monday, Jason La Canfora of the NFL Network reports. Franklin, 31, has 204 tackles, four sacks and an interception during his 114-game career with the Baltimore Ravens (2003-06), San Francisco 49ers (2007-10) and New Orleans Saints, where he started nine of 16 games last season. Jonathan Babineaux and Corey Peters are entrenched as the Falcons' starting defensive tackles, with 2009 first round pick Peria Jerry and restricted free agent Vance Walker backing them up. Should Franklin join the Falcons, he'd be reunited with Mike Nolan, who was the Ravens' defensive coordinator in 2003-04 and the 49ers head coach from 2005-08. Nolan became the Falcons defensive coordinator on January 17.

Atlanta Falcons turn down HBO and Hard Knocks

A couple weeks ago we told you HBO had finally come to a decision about the team they wanted to appear on the successful Hard Knocks series.  That choice was the Atlanta Falcons, who in spite of 3 playoff apperaances in 4 years, were a less than inspiring selection to the wide majority of those of you who responded to the news via Twitter and Facebook.  At that point, it seemed...

Jim Haslett was the head coach during the period that ESPN claims that the New Orleans Saints GM Mickey Loomis had an electronic device in his suite in the Superdome that allowed him to eavesdrop on opposing teams. Saints retain John Kasay

The Saints have re-signed kicker John Kasay to a one-year contract, according to a post at the Times-Picayune.  One wonders if this could possibly spell trouble for Garrett Hartley in recovering from an injury which caused him to miss all of last year’s regular season. The Saints had signed Hartley to a multi-year deal prior to the 2011 season, but he sustained a hip injury during...
