For the second time in just under a week, a well-known player on the Atlanta Falcons has been arrested. Atlanta police arrested Falcons defensive end John Abraham on Monday on charges of obstruction of police and obstruction of firefighters, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. The Atlanta Police Department said police and firefighters were responding to a call about a woman threatening to jump from a building, and Abraham refused their requests to leave the area. It is unclear why Abraham wouldn’t leave the area, or whether he knows the woman. The woman did not jump and was not injured. The Falcons released this statement a few hours after Abrahams arrest on Monday. “We are aware of the news regarding John Abraham. We are in the process of gathering more information and we will have no further comment at this time.”

The obstruction charges are misdemeanors. Abraham, who has started all three games for the Falcons this season and is tied for the team lead with two sacks, is expected to be booked at the Fulton County Jail and released. Last week Falcons running back Michael Turner was arrested for drunk driving just hours after the Falcons’ victory over the Broncos on Monday Night Football.

Ryan turns perceived slight in Falcons' favor

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan still won't criticize his NFL colleagues for leaving him off a list of the league network's top 100 players this summer. Now in his fifth year, Ryan finally has a top cast of playmakers and a steady...

Ryan and the Falcons have already built a two-game cushion atop the NFC South and...

Smith wants to keep Falcons' expectations level

No matter how much Atlanta coach Mike Smith tries to level expectations, he knows that the leadership of quarterback Matt Ryan and the arrival of defensive coordinator Mike Nolan have made the Falcons heavy favorites to win the NFC South. A 27-3 victory at San Diego gave the Falcons a two-game lead over Carolina and Tampa Bay in the division, but Smith doesn't buy that Atlanta...

How many quarterbacks have won 40 games or more in their first four seasons, since 1950?Three: Dan Marino, Joe Flacco and Matt Ryan.Prior to last season, only Marino had accomplished such a feat. However, one must consider that the NFL went to a 16-game format in 1978, it is still an average of 10 wins per year. And that is good. REALLY good.Matt Ryan is now in his fifth season as...

Atlanta Falcons vs. San Diego Chargers: Five Things We Learned

Here are the five things that we learned from watching the Falcons demolish the Chargers in San Diego in this Week 3 match-up of two potential playoff teams.1.  Tony Gonzalez can still ball with the best of them.  He might be 36, and lead a vegan life style, but on Sunday Tony Gonzalez was as reassuring to Falcons' Quarterback Matt Ryan as a warm Meatloaf straight from the...
