Falcons linebacker Sean Weatherspoon is out for Sundays Saints game, head coach Mike Smith announced after practice Thursday.
We felt like Sean would be a real, real stretch these first two weeks, Smith said. We feel like hes making progress, but he wont play in the ball game this week.
Weatherspoon, wide receiver Kevin Cone (groin) and safety Charles Mitchell (calf) did not practice on Thursday.
Hell be looking to get back out there the first part of next week, Smith said. Well keep him in the training room the rest of this week.

Roddy White says Falcons have the pedigree to go 16-0
The problem with this statement is recent history shows us that having the best regular season record or homefield advantage, doesn’t mean as much as it use it.
We saw that with the 2007 Patriots and 2011 Packers, who both were considered juggernaut teams that couldn’t finish the deal in the playoffs.
The Falcons had best record in the NFC and in 2010, then were smoked at...
Falcons Make Change at Fullback
The Falcons have made another roster move this week. This time they have cut Lousaka Polite and have re-signed Mike Cox.
For a team that passes roughly 60% of the time, the Falcons sure have made some moves at FB this year. It started back in May when starter Ovie Mughelli became a salary cap casualty. In August, the Falcons put rookie Bradie Ewing on injured reserve and...
John Madden isn't ready to jump on the Falcons bandwagon: "I'm not ready to say the Super Bowl is theirs"
He's know for his famous video game, but before being a television analyst, then video game maker, he was a super bowl winning coach. John Madden understands the rigors of a season, and with eight game down, he's not convinced the undefeated Atlanta Falcons are a sure bet to win it all.“I think they have solid players,” Madden said, according to D. Orlando Ledbetter of...
Atlanta Falcons coordinators Koetter and Nolan should be among consideration key offseason addition ‘awards’ through midseason
Within two days of one another the Atlanta Falcons brought in Mike Nolan to run the defense and Dirk Koetter on the offensive side. 8-0 Falcons try to play down talk of perfection
The Atlanta Falcons are starting to get questions about perfection.
The Falcons (8-0) have gotten off to the best start in franchise history, but lineman Tyson Clabo points out that they're still only halfway through the regular season, with a number of tough games still to come. That includes a trip to New Orleans on Sunday, plus a December game against the Super Bowl champion...

Atlanta Falcons: Week 10 NFL Power Rankings (#3)
Last week: 1 (-2)
Record: 8-0
The Falcons are an undefeated 8-0, but they have not played a tough schedule (it doesn’t really get harder) and they’ve won 5 of their 8 games by a touchdown or less, including 4 at home. They’ve beaten everyone on their schedule and they’ve been able to eke out victories, but at the end of the day, if I’m an AFC team, I’m way more scared...

NFL Midseason Report Card: Atlanta Falcons
When a team like the Falcons reach the midway point and the biggest question about them is why they don’t get more respect, then you’re having a pretty good season.
It’s difficult to get off to an 8-0 start and still fly under the radar, but still, teams like Green Bay, Chicago and the 49ers get brought up as the best in the NFC before the Falcons do. Some point to their...
