In case you live in a cave during the off-season, the Falcons have been getting a nice buzz during their OTAs (Organized Team Activities). I thought it would be interesting to take a look around the web this weekend to see what's being said about the Falcons...
Hey pick-six, let's do this to the other team
Asante Samuel Could Play Both Corner Spots in 2012
“I think you guys saw that he lined up on the left side and he lined up on the right side,” Smith said. “The thing that Asante allows us to do is it gives us a lot of flexibility in terms of how we want to line up our players. That’s something that coach [new defensive coordinator Mike] Nolan and the staff have spent a lot of time discussing and something we’ll look at very strongly, very closely through these next nine OTA’s.”
Do The Falcons Have the Best Secondary in the NFL?
As good as things can appear, it doesn't always translate to immediate success. This will likely very much be the case with t...

FLOWERY BRANCH-The AJC recently released the “unofficial” depth chart for the Atlanta Falcons as they complete round one of OTAs.
There were several things that jumped off the page that are worth discussing. Please click the link below to read this story and watch a video from OTAs.
ATLANTA (AP) -- The Atlanta Falcons have signed defensive end Jonathan Massaquoi, a fifth-round pick from Troy.
The Falcons have signed each of their six draft picks.
Massaquoi (6-3, 264) is expected to boost the Falcons' pass rush after getting 19 sacks in 25 games for Troy. He led the Sun Belt Conference with 13 12 sacks in 2010.
Massaquoi participated in the Falcons'...
According to D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Falcons defensive tackle Corey Peters will miss the remainder of OTA’s and this month’s minicamp after suffering a foot injury this offseason. He’s expected to be ready to go for the start of training camp.
Peters had a nice 2011 season after recording 26 tackles, 3 sacks and 1 interception.
Sam Baker is a former 1st round pick, but lost his starting job last season to Will Svitek, who didn’t play well. The Falcons have put him back as the 1st string left tackle for now, saying that his struggles last year were the result of a back injury. However, Baker has been a disappointment throughout his career and the Falcons used a 3rd round pick on a tackle in Lamar Holmes...
Lofa Tatupu was out of football last year, but was signed by the Falcons this offseason and is currently getting the 1st team reps in OTAs. Tatupu has a laundry list of injury problems, but he’s not yet 30 and he’s a 3 time Pro Bowler and currently healthy. The Falcons took a flier on him to replace Curtis Lofton and they are giving him every chance to prove he can still start...
According to Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, veteran Lofa Tatupu was lined up as the Falcons’ starting middle linebacker during Tuesday’s drills.
This is a great sign for a talented veteran like Tatupu, who’s looking to stay healthy and revive his career in Atlanta. As long as he can stay out of the trainer’s room, he should be a starter this year.
Over the last week we've been counting down our choices for the top players on the 2012 Atlanta Falcons roster and we are nearing the end. So far we've featured Tyson Clabo (#10), Michael Turner (#9), Asante Samuel (#8), Tony Gonzalez (#7), Brent Grimes (#6) and Julio Jones (#5). The next man on the list represents the present and the future of the Falcons defense.
Under new coordinator Dirk Koetter, the Falcons are expected to use more of a no-huddle offensive attack in 2012.
Matt Ryan has made strides in each year since being selected with the No. 3 overall pick by the Falcons in 2008, and could be in store for a breakout campaign as a fantasy gunslinger in 2012.
And this will boost the fantasy stock of top targets Roddy White...
The Atlanta Falcons defense is looking more and more different every day during OTAs. It has been widely reported that “Mr Pick 6” Asante Samuel has made an early impact on and off the field. On a team filled with potential superstars on defense, it is about time somebody put a jolt on the defense.
Guys like Sean Weatherspoon, William Moore, Brent Grimes and Corey...
The Atlanta Falcons were the only team able to finagle a trade for CB Asante Samuel and there is good reason for their interest. It might not have to do with Samuel as much as it has to do with Atlanta’s defensive problems. Plus, more talk on Asher Allen and other notes around the league.
