The Falcons are currently low on the salary cap totem pole so as we wait for the draft let's take a lap around the internet and look at some of the more interesting Falcons links... Pro Football Focus did a write up on how often teams used the Nickel last season. Turns out that the Falcons used it quite a lot. According to their data, out of 1161 total plays, the Falcons lined up for 58% of those plays with five defensive backs. Right now, the Falcons would line up Asante Samuel, Robert McClain, Thomas DeCoud and William Moore but who is the fifth guy? I think that spells out just how important it is for the Falcons to get a quality corner in the draft (unless they can scrounge one up like they did with Asante last year) with their first round pick.   Roddy White had some interesting words on the usually very misable ESPN show "First Take." “We called a play in the huddle and the play was for the ball to be thrown to me,” he said. “They played a coverage they hadn't played to that formation, ever. This was the first time they had done this throughout the season, throughout the game.” Asked if coaching was a factor, White replied: “We just got outcoached on that one play.” White, it should be noted, said it with a smile.   Steven Jackson went on 790 the zone this week and had some encouraging words for Falcons fans. You will not get anyone on the market — in the draft or free agency — that’s more hungry than I am and that has more to prove than I do,” Jackson told 790 The Zone. “I want to go out on top. “Let’s be frank: I didn’t come here to make it to the playoffs. You guys have done that consecutively over the years. I’m here to help be a part of the puzzle, be a part of something that you guys have built over the years. I’m just a hope and a dream, but we frankly have the same hope and dream.”

White: Falcons in 'Super Bowl or Bust' mode

When Falcons head coach Mike Smith is delivering his most boilerplate coachspeak, he likes to say the team keeps its goals internally. If thats the case this offseason, then his players are not doing a very good job of keeping that information confidential. In truth, after the Falcons advanced to the NFC championship last January, losing on a fourth-down play in the final minute...

Roddy White Says No One Can Defend the Falcons Now

Roddy White sure loves to talk. The other day, he made the profound statement, that it is Super Bowl or nothing for the Falcons, as if anyone was thinking differently. Today he says with the addition of Steven Jackson, they will be an offensive juggernaut no one can stop. Just spoke to Roddy White. He said with Steven Jackson now on the #Falcons you can’t defend them. — Jamey...

Roddy White says it’s Super Bowl or bust for the Falcons in 2013

Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Roddy White made it appearance on ESPN’s First Take on Wednesday. “We know it’s now Super Bowl or bust,” White said, via ESPN.com. “Anything short of that is not a good season for us right now.” While many people believe the Falcons are a Super Bowl caliber team, I agree with White that next season is Super Bowl or bust for them.  ...

Roddy White Says It’s “Super Bowl Or Nothing” For Falcons

Roddy White had a chance to be on TV today to talk all things Falcons.  White who runs a hilarious Twitter feed got the chance to go on ESPN First Take and discuss his teams potential for success in 2013. Roddy White: Falcons are Super Bowl or Nothing

The Atlanta Falcons know that the only way they can make believers out of fans is to make noise in the playoffs. A team that traditionally always does well in the regular season, hasn’t always translated to success in the playoff games. While they somewhat broke the mode last season by making a NFC Championship [...]

John Abraham likely to sign after the draft?

So John Abraham and Dwight Freeney are both still hanging out unemployed. With teams like the Broncos, Patriots, Saints, Steelers and Dolphins all rumored to be interested. When it comes to the Dolphins, a report from the Miami Herald has some new info on their interest in John Abraham. Which is to say, it's lukewarm. Pro Football Talk lays out the scenario the Dolphins, which...

Atlanta Falcons Draft Outlook: QBs

As the draft gets closer we will be going position by position and looking at some potential targets that the Falcons might be looking at in the draft. We will start with the QBs and that probably has you scratching your head. Matt Ryan has been very durable during his NFL career as he's only missed two games. But as it sits right now, the Falcons only have one other quarterback...

Atlanta Falcons 2013 Draft Outlook: Running Back

The Falcons are bringing back the same backfield they had last season with the exception of trading up by replacing Michael Turner with Steven Jackson. Behind Jackson we have Jacquizz Rodgers, Jason Snelling and Antone Smith. At fullback we have Bradie Ewing and I just don't see us carrying more than one FB on the roster. There are so many needs on defense and now...
