A few NFL insiders have heard reports that Atlanta Falcons running back Michael Turner could be let go by the team. Last season Turner ran for 800 yards and scored 10 touchdowns. The one time San Diego Charger split time this season in the back field with Jacquizz Rodgers. Turner was limited due to some injuries this year, but this was the fifth season where the Burner scored at least 10 touchdowns. The Falcons like most every team in the NFL are feeling the salary cap heat and Turner will make a little under $7 million next year if he is still part of the team.  The Falcons could pick up a younger running back in this year’s draft which could send Turner packing. In Philadelphia, the Eagles are looking to cut down their spending with taking a look at cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha’s contract. If Nmamdi fails to negotiate with the team well he could get the pink slip in the city of brotherly love. There are reportedly contract talks going on today in Indianapolis, the site of the NFL Combine, to reach a deal. Nnamdi had played for the Oakland Raiders, but then got a huge payday from the Eagles when he signed a $60 million five year contract two years ago. Asomugha only had one interception last year with 55 combined tackles. One player looks to be leaving the team on his own terms. The newly crowned Super Bowl Champion Baltimore Ravens is going to say goodbye to their center Matt Birk. Matt gave his announcement today about his retirement from the NFL after playing 15 years in the league. Birk was named to the USA Today’s All-Decade team for the 2000’s and was a six time Pro Bowler. He also won the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award in 2011. On his retirement Birk said, “I’m old. I’ve got six kids. It’s time to do something else. I have absolutely nothing to complain about and a lot to be grateful for.”
