Found January 10, 2012 on The Penalty Flag:
Sure the New York Giants have a pretty good defense but there is no way the Atlanta Falcons should have been shutout during their Wild Card playoff game against the Giants with all of the offensive weapons they possess. Seriously, if the Denver Broncos’ offensive coordinator could take the league’s 27th ranked passer and put up 30 points of offense against the Pittsburgh Steelers’ number-one ranked defense then there is really no excuse for the game called by Falcons’ offensive coordinator Mike Mularkey on Sunday. What happened to the imaginative, offensive-guru the Falcons thought they were hiring back in 2008? Mularkey somehow developed a reputation as a creative game-planner with a physical philosophy during his previous stops as a coordinator and head coach but that’s not what we have seen from Atlanta during his four-year stint running the offense. Atlanta’s slow, plodding offense is probably one of the most predictable offenses in the league. On top of that Atlanta’s offense never seems to look crisp; it never seems to have a consistent flow to it. It’s almost as if the Falcons literally take things one play at a time meaning they can look like world-beaters on one play then look [...]

Atlanta Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff insisted that he has no regrets over the team's draft-day deal to select wide receiver Julio Jones. "We said - when we made the very aggressive move on Julio Jones - that this was not only a move for the here-and-the-now," Dimitroff told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Matt Ryan: “We certainly didn’t take a step forward”

The reloaded Falcons offense didn’t score a point against the Giants.  The Falcons defense eventually wore down and got steamrolled in the second half. You got two great QBs in Matt Ryan and Eli Manning along with their stud WRs who will make big plays this afternoon. Both teams have horrible secondaries which will be exposed once again today. This game will be in the 50s or 60s total range once this game is over.Falcons +3 is the second play. The...

A requiem for the 2011/2012 Atlanta Falcons

Today, we say goodbye to the 2011/2012 Atlanta Falcons, a team that was good, but a team that should've been better than just "good." The Falcons were so confident that they were close to being legitimate title contenders that they sacrificed five draft picks to land Julio Jones, who they felt was the one missing piece to their offensive puzzle. And Jones performed...

Giants blitz

HERO The Giants defense delivered an absolutely dominant performance, holding the Falcons offense to zero points and 247 total yards. A mostly ineffective unit all season, Perry Fewell’s crew stopped Michael Turner, contained Tony Gonzalez and shut down Matt Ryan. “Probably our best effort so far this year,” Justin...

Defense Arrives in Time For Playoff Run

Flattening of Falcons Earns Giants Trip to Green Bay The Giants defense allowed no points vs a very potent Atlanta Falcons’ offense yesterday – a very good sign for the Giants and their fans. When the Giants’ defensive front is cooking, opponents better get ready to eat - turf, that is. They had only two sacks yesterday, but they controlled the line of scrimmage and forced...
