Falcons offensive star finds Kirk Cousins rumors 'funny'

Atlanta Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts has worn No. 8 during his entire NFL career – now three seasons in – thus far.

With rumors that quarterback Kirk Cousins could join Atlanta this offseason, there's been talk about if the former fourth overall pick would give up his digit to the signal-caller.

Some of Pitts' recent social media activity indicates that he's not worried about that possibility.

The Falcons have had serious quarterback issues over the last two seasons ever since former MVP Matt Ryan was traded to the Indianapolis Colts in March 2022.

Former third-round pick Desmond Ridder was benched and re-inserted as the starter multiple times last season, ultimately finishing the campaign with a 64.2% completion percentage for 2,836 passing yards, 12 touchdowns and 12 interceptions with an 83.4 passer rating across 15 games (13 starts). His backup at the start of the year, Taylor Heinicke, posted a 54.4% completion percentage for 890 passing yards, five touchdowns and four interceptions with a 74.7 passer rating in five games (four starts).

Aside from Cousins, Atlanta has also been linked to nine-time Pro Bowler Russell Wilson and Chicago Bears 2021 first-round pick Justin Fields, among others.

Pitts played in all 17 games last season but finished with only 53 receptions for 667 yards and three touchdowns on 90 targets. He surpassed 60 receiving yards in a game just once in 2023 and went over six targets three times. His trio of touchdown catches were a career high.
