Will Svitek will remain as the Falcons starter at left tackle. Coach Mike Smith made the depth-chart change official Wednesday. Svitek took over at left tackle when Sam Baker, who started the seasons first six games, missed four games with a back injury. Baker was activated for Sundays game against the Vikings, but played only on special teams. Smith said the decision was made because Baker is still not 100 percent recovered from back surgery performed during the Falcons bye week in late October.

ARTSY FARTSY
Ray Edwards and GF's portrait is provocative
Atlanta Falcons DE Ray Edwards recently revealed his desire to start a modeling career. I’m assuming that’s the desire of his girlfriend LaStarya too. All the info on her mentions she’s an ex-stripper. So I assume being an urban model was/is in the mix as well. The couple did a photo shoot a few months ago for Urban ink magazine and someone decided to turn one of those photos...
Atlanta CBs Franks, Owens ready for big challenge
Atlanta needs Dominique Franks and Christopher Owens to step up at cornerback.
Starter Brent Grimes, an alternate Pro Bowl pick in 2010, had minor surgery Thursday on his right knee that will sideline him for two to four weeks. Franks and Owens say not to worry, they're ready to handle a bigger role in his absence.
The Falcons (7-4) have yet to decide if they will start Franks...

Falcons must focus on stopping the run
Each week, John Lynch breaks down a dynamic NFL offensive playmaker, devises a game plan and discusses a strategy for success. This week, Lynch examines how the Atlanta Falcons defense should attack Houston Texans rookie QB T.J. Yates.

Falcons vs. Vikings: More of the same
On Sunday, the Falcons played an undermanned Minnesota Vikings team, and performed admirably against them. It was a win, and a solid one at that, but the final score barely begins to tell the story of this game. The Falcons have a bad tendancy to getting off to a hot start, the offense fizzles, and inferior teams are let back into the game when they have no business being there. The...

Looking Ahead to the Houston Texans Game Against the Atlanta Falcons
This week the Houston Texans will face their toughest opponent yet this season. Not that the Atlanta Falcons are the best team that the Texans have had to play this year, just that the Texans are entering new territory behind the leadership of rookie QB T.J. Yates. The Texans have played beaten up and battered for most of the 2011 season but this game will prove to be a monumental...
