Michael Turner barreled in for the go-ahead touchdown midway through the fourth quarter, as the Atlanta Falcons escaped Raymond James Stadium with a 24-23 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The outcome gave Atlanta (10-1) a stranglehold on the NFC South and ended Tampa Bay's four-game winning streak. Matt Ryan bounced back from a five-interception performance in last week's win over Arizona by completing an efficient 26-of-32 passes for 353 yards, including an 80-yard touchdown heave to Julio Jones. Jones, who was listed as questionable because of a sore ankle, caught six passes for 147 yards. Doug Martin, the NFL's leader in yards from scrimmage, ran for two scores but was held to 50 yards on 21 carries for Tampa Bay (6-5) while Josh Freeman threw for 256 yards on 19-of-30 passing in defeat. Smith wants Falcons to clean up inconsistencies

Leading the NFC with a 10-1 record isn't nearly enough to satisfy Atlanta Falcons coach Mike Smith. His team is playing too many close games and still making too many mistakes for Smith to say that Atlanta is one of the NFL's few elite teams. He will only say that if the Falcons keep winning, they will put themselves in position to earn a top playoff seed. With just three...

This Ain't Your Youngry Bucs - An Atlanta/Tampa Bay Primer

The 2012 Tampa Bay Buccaneers are piecing together a much longer impressive streak than last season.  Remember when those silly pirates beat not only the Saints but the Falcons on their way to an impressive 4-2 record last year?  If you said, "very vaguely," then congrats, you are in my boat.  Problem was they never won a game after going 4-1 and weren't...

Bucs confident they can stay in playoff race

Tampa Bay's resilience will be tested as the Buccaneers strive to rebound from the team's first loss in a month and remain in playoff contention. Sunday's one-point loss to the Atlanta Falcons stopped a four-game winning streak, but was not nearly as costly as it could been for the Bucs. Three other clubs pursuing what would be the second NFC wild-card position also...

Eliminate the Suicide Week 12 – The Green is Greener in the End Zone

If week 11 in the NFL had one name assigned to it, it would be Houdini.  The smoke and mirrors used by Houston, Dallas, Tampa Bay, and Atlanta to magically pull victories out of strait jackets is nothing short of miraculous.  The top suicide picks all managed to inch out wins in dramatically late fashion:  Matt Ryan throws five interceptions yet the Falcons fly passed the Cardinals...
