Found March 03, 2013 on NFL Trade Rumors:
D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution writes that impending free agent Steven Jackson ”appears” to be the Falcons’ top target in free agency. There’s been a lot of speculation in recent weeks that Jackson could make his way to Atlanta now that he’s expected to void the final year of his contract and test the free agent market. The Falcons released Michael Turner a few days ago, but signing Jackson seems to make a lot of sense in terms of the fit. Jackson would not only be able to take on a similar role in the team’s offense, but would almost certainly be an upgrade for them. Jackson has said that he would like to finish out the remainder of his career with the Rams, so there’s at least a decent chance he could re-sign with them in the next few weeks.   The post Falcons Prepared To Target Steven Jackson In Free Agency? appeared first on NFL Trade Rumors -.

Where does Steven Jackson stand in Rams history?

It is almost a guarantee that Steven Jackson has played his last game in a St. Louis Rams uniform. Jackson will be allowed to test the market in 2013 to find a team that will want his services, and give Jackson the best chance to get a championship before he finally retires. However with Jackson’s tenure as the premier running back of the Rams; where does he stand in Rams history...

St. Louis Rams: Ahmad Bradshaw would be a perfect replacement for Steven Jackson

Earlier in the week, long-time running back and three-time Pro Bowler Steven Jackson opted to void his contract with the St. Louis Rams and pursue the free agent market, in search of finding a new home with a team capable of competing for a Super Bowl title. With Jackson's departure very likely, the Rams are now left to scramble and find a replacement for the incredibly consistent...

Should the Falcons Pursue Steven Jackson?

On Friday, the Atlanta Falcons dropped a bombshell by releasing John Abraham, Dunta Robinson and Michael Turner. With the release of Michael Turner, which was reportedly due to a failed physical, that opens a spot at running back for the Falcons. The Falcons are very happy with Jacquizz Rodgers and they also like Jason Snelling as a situational back. As happy as the Falcons are with...

Falcons would be smart to pursue Steven Jackson

Michael Turner was released by the Atlanta Falcons who are now looking to go in another direction at the running back position. What I don’t understand is why no one is bringing up Steven Jackson as a potential replacement? The Falcons should pursue Steven Jackson, because this is a football player; not just a running back, but a football player that has rushed for 1,000 yards...

Top Landing Spots: John Abraham, Michael Turner & Dunta Robinson

The Atlanta Falcons unofficially kicked off the free agency period by releasing what some would consider three of their best players. The three players were defensive end John Abraham, who had been with the team since 2006; running back Michael Turner, who had been with the team since 2008; and cornerback Dunta Robinson, who had been with the team since 2010.While the Falcons had...

Michael Turner's tank isn't empty, looks forward to a new chapter

Michael Turner was among three veterans released by the Atlanta Falcons Friday, including John Abraham and Dunta Robinson. Turner, no longer the home run back with breakout speed, is still a viable short yardage guy, and should have no problem latching onto a team in need of just that. His last hurrah with the Falcons produced 98 yards against the Seattle Seahawks in their NFL...

Report: Falcons a Potential Suitor for Darrell Revis

Wednesday afternoon the reasonably accurate Yahoo sports reporter Jason Cole suggested the Atlanta Falcons may make a run at a Jets player.       DON'T NAVIGATE AWAY, IT WAS REVIS!   More on Revis potentially ending in Atlanta, and absolutely nothing on Tim Tebow and Mark Sanchez, after the jump.   Don’t be surprised if...

Falcons Don't Use Franchise Tag

The deadline for using the franchise tag has come and gone. Eight NFL teams used the franchise tag but unlike last year when we tagged Brent Grimes, the Falcons did not use the tag this season. The most likely candidate for the franchise tag was safety William Moore. The Buffalo Bills tagged safety Jarius Byrd for $6.916 million. That's the price tag that would have...

Falcons Can Find Value in Free Agency

There is a saying in life...the bigger, the better. This is an attitude commonly displayed by fans when the free agency period begins. Speculation runs wild within fan bases regarding if their team will be able to win a bidding war for the best player on the market. Naturally not everyone can grab a big name out of free agency, but what about lesser known names? You can get great...
