The Atlanta Falcons have lost a member of the front office for the second consecutive year to another franchise hiring a general manager.
Dave Caldwell departed to join the Jacksonville Jaguars this week and the Falcons have moved swiftly to replace him by promoting Lional Vital into the role of director of player personnel. That is the position Caldwell held and Vital was previously the associate director of player personnel.
We are pleased to announce that we have promoted Lionel Vital to our director of player personnel, Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff said in a statement released by the club. Lionel has assisted in constructing our roster over the last five seasons and has been instrumental in our draft process and free agent acquisitions. He has over 20 years of scouting experience and has had the opportunity to work under team builders like Ozzie Newsome and Bill Belichick during his career. Lionel is a vital member of our scouting team and we are happy that he will continue to be a member of our organization.
Last offseason, Les Snead left Atlanta to become the general manager in St. Louis. If the Falcons can continue to have success on the field, more front office members will likely reap the benefits.

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan has played in three postseason games since being drafted in 2008, he's 0-3, but says he's not feeling the pressure to win.
“I don’t worry about it. I don’t think about it,” Ryan said Wednesday before practice. “My focus is for this locker room and for the guys and the coaching staff that we're all together. We want to...
FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. -- Falcons defensive end John Abraham was limited in practice for the third straight day on Friday, still hindered by an ankle injury during the regular-season finale.

Left tackle is one of the hardest positions to play in the NFL and when your owner comes out publicly, as Arthur Blank did after last season's 24-2 loss to the New York Giants in the playoffs, and blames the lack of protection for the quarterback for the...
Atlanta Falcons receiver Julio Jones gives position coach Terry Robiskie a lot of credit for helping him make the Pro Bowl in his second season.

After the Atlanta Falcons were embarrassed 24-2 in New York to the Giants in the Wild Card round of the 2011 playoffs; their main focus in 2012 was to secure home-field advantage. With the best record at 13-3 in the NFC, the Falcons did exactly that. The wild card weekend is over,it's time to separate the men from the boys. Weaknesses that can be hidden on a normal Sunday, will be exposed like George Clinton at an insurance seminar. ESPNs Pat Yasinskas writes that the Atlanta Falcons could be looking to replace RB Michael Turner during the offseason.
Turner, 30, has seen a dip in his overall production which is consistent with aging running backs. Hell be entering the final year of his contract and has a $5.5 million base salary for next season, so it makes sense that the Falcons would consider parting...

I've been hearing a lot about how the Falcons shouldn't be a problem for the Seahawks, but this game is far from a circled win. I know Atlanta's schedule was relatively soft, but no one puts together a 13-3 record in the modern NFL without doing a lot of things right. And as for them being 0-3 in the playoffs with head coach Mike Smith and quarterback Matt Ryan, that...
