FLOWERY BRANCH — Falcons linebacker Mike Peterson hit the rewind button when he first heard Tampa Bay coach Raheem Morris declare the Buccaneers the “best team in the NFC.”
After pulling out another thriller against Arizona, Morris’ claim doesn’t seem that far off.
The Buccaneers (5-2) will face the Falcons (5-2) at 1 p.m. on Sunday at the Georgia Dome with first place in the NFC South on the line.
The two teams, along with the New York Giants, have the best record in the NFC.
“With all this new technology you can back it up,” Peterson said. “I was like, ‘let me back that up.’ I was sitting with a couple of my friends and they were like ‘did he really say that.’ Tell him thank you.’ ”
The Falcons, almost to a man, have heard of Morris’ comments and have taken them as a personal affront.
