The Atlanta Falcons have re-signed fullback Mike Cox and released the player who beat him out, Lousaka Polite. Cox initially signed with the Falcons last season after Ovie Mughelli went down with an injury. Cox was favored to keep the job heading into this season but the Falcons went with Polite, a seven-year veteran who had previously played with Dallas, Chicago, Miami and New England. With the running game not performing as well as expected, the Falcons brought back Cox on Wednesday for his blocking skills. Also, he might provide help in pass protection with this week's opponent, New Orleans, expected to blitz heavily. The Saints sacked Michael Vick seven times in a Monday night victory. The Falcons also signed offensive lineman Jacques McClendon to the practice squad.

Falcons Make Change at Fullback

The Falcons have made another roster move this week. This time they have cut Lousaka Polite and have re-signed Mike Cox. For a team that passes roughly 60% of the time, the Falcons sure have made some moves at FB this year. It started back in May when starter Ovie Mughelli became a salary cap casualty. In August, the Falcons put rookie Bradie Ewing on injured reserve and...

Atlanta Falcons linebacker Sean Weatherspoon will miss his second consecutive game with an ankle injury, according to D. Orland Ledbetter of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The Falcons leading tackler sat out against Dallas last week and will be sidelined when Atlanta travels to New Orleans this weekend. Roddy White Says He Doesn’t Like The City Of New Orleans

Atlanta Falcons wide receiver loves to run off at the mouth, sometimes without an apparent thought to what he’s even saying. His twitter feed @RoddyWhiteTV is pure comedy, and most of the time White’s not trying to be funny. White has started yapping again, and the masses in the Nola are not going to be [...] [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links...

8-0 Falcons try to play down talk of perfection

The Atlanta Falcons are starting to get questions about perfection. The Falcons (8-0) have gotten off to the best start in franchise history, but lineman Tyson Clabo points out that they're still only halfway through the regular season, with a number of tough games still to come. That includes a trip to New Orleans on Sunday, plus a December game against the Super Bowl champion...

Falcons’ Schedule, Not ‘Pedigree,’ Likely to Play Biggest Factor in Team’s Chance at 16-0 (Video)

Roddy White thinks the Falcons can go undefeated, but his reasoning behind that belief isn’t so perfect. The Falcons wide receiver is pointing to the team’s “pedigree” as a reason why they can go 16-0, along with the united nature of the team’s locker room. It might not be the wisest thing to tempt the football gods before a big divisional matchup, but that’s exactly...

The Coalter Report: Dallas vs. Falcons

What Went Right The defense once again was solid this week. Ware got pressure constantly and made sure to leave Matt Ryan’s face print onto the field before the game was over.  Ratliff showed signs of him old self and until his injury, he was walling off the middle to Michael Turner and charging into the pocket consistently.  McCray has shown that he may be a legitimate option...

Atlanta Falcons: Week 10 NFL Power Rankings (#3)

Last week: 1 (-2) Record: 8-0 The Falcons are an undefeated 8-0, but they have not played a tough schedule (it doesn’t really get harder) and they’ve won 5 of their 8 games by a touchdown or less, including 4 at home. They’ve beaten everyone on their schedule and they’ve been able to eke out victories, but at the end of the day, if I’m an AFC team, I’m way more scared...

NFL Midseason Report Card: Atlanta Falcons

When a team like the Falcons reach the midway point and the biggest question about them is why they don’t get more respect, then you’re having a pretty good season. It’s difficult to get off to an 8-0 start and still fly under the radar, but still, teams like Green Bay, Chicago and the 49ers get brought up as the best in the NFC before the Falcons do. Some point to their...

Falcons-Saints Preview

Much has been made of the Atlanta Falcons beating inferior opponents - often unimpressively - en route to a perfect record at the season's halfway point. They'll get another team with a losing record Sunday, but the New Orleans Saints appear to be on the rise. In what could be a high-scoring affair at the Superdome, the Falcons look to remain unbeaten when they face a Saints...
