Matt Bryant kicked his second game-winning field goal in three weeks, a 55-yarder with 1 second remaining, and the Atlanta Falcons remained unbeaten with a sloppy 23-20 victory over the Oakland Raiders on Sunday. Overcoming Matt Ryan's three interceptions, the Falcons (6-0) extended the best start in franchise history. But it wasn't easy against the pesky Raiders (1-4). Atlanta pulled ahead when Asante Samuel returned an interception 79 yards for a touchdown with 2:40 remaining, only to wind up tied again when Carson Palmer led Oakland down the field for a tying score. Darren McFadden powered in from the 2 with 40 seconds left. That was just enough time for Ryan and Bryant to pull off another fourth-quarter victory. Ryan completed four passes to set up the winning kick. --- Online: http://pro32.ap.org/poll and http://twitter.com/AP-NFL

Falcons ‘Matty Ice’ not who you think he is?

The Atlanta Falcons are off to a 6-0 start in 2012.  After squeezing out another last second win against the Oakland Raiders the Falcons will head into their bye week with the best record in the NFL.  Contrary to my preseason prediction that Atlanta wouldn’t even make the playoffs, the Falcons appear to be a team on a mission; possibly a team of destiny.Matt Ryan has had tremendous...

Matt Ryan Struggles Against Raiders

Falcons QB Matt Ryan threw a season-high three interceptions Sunday in a win over Oakland.Fantasy Spin:Ryan produced a 59.1 QB rating, his lowest of the year. Despite the shaky performance, Ryan and the Falcons will head into their bye week with a perfect 6-0 record. Ryan's next game will be two weeks from now against Philadelphia.

Falcons 20, Raiders 17

ATLANTA – Matt Bryant's 55-yard field goal with one second to play capped another dramatic comeback in the Georgia Dome and kept the Falcons unbeaten heading into their bye week with a 23-20 victory over the Oakland Raiders. Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan, who was picked off three times in the first half, authored another game-winning drive, just two weeks after doing the...

Early Turnovers and Bad Tackling Almost Spell Doom for Falcons

The Atlanta Falcons escaped yet another close call this Sunday against the Oakland Raiders.  Matt Ryan had to orchestrate a third straight come-from-behind victory against the Carson Palmer led Raiders.  But it could have been a blow-out by the Raiders as they beat Atlanta in every major statistical category except turnovers (3 a piece) and penalties (Oakland: 12-110; Atlanta 2...

Harry Douglas Makes Catch Off Of Pass Which Hit Raiders Defender’s Helmet

Matt Ryan threw a not so perfect pass to Harry Douglas, but thanks to a bit of luck it ended up just fine. Ryan’s throw actually bounced off of the Raiders’ Joselio Hanson’s helmet and Harry was in the right place at the right time, and pulled in the catch. I’m fairly certain that this is not the way it was drawn it, but none of the Falcons are complaining. Article found...

Oakland Raiders at Atlanta Falcons: Five Things We Learned

Many Oakland fans had written off their Raiders with the season only one third complete.  After seeing a brief ray of hope for a successful campaign throughout four quarters against an unbeaten Atlanta squad. The most dedicated of the Silver and Black's fan base might easily defect to the NBA rather than suffer through watching another Oakland debacle like Sunday's disappointing...

Falcons Survive Raider Scare, 23-20: Hero & Zero Of The Game

Coming in to Sunday's match up between the 5-0 Atlanta Falcons and the 1-3 Oakland Raiders, most people analyzing the game across the country figured it might be a lopsided affair with the Falcons easily getting past the Raiders.Oakland played well, well enough to give themselves a chance on the road at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, but in the end; could not muster enough pressure...

Sunday Wrap Up

Falcons def. Raiders: The Falcons really have to give up this obsession with last second wins. While the Falcons should certainly be happy about being 6-0, the fact that they have barely won games against the Panthers, Redskins, and now the Raiders. This is the also the first week that Matt Ryan actually hurt the team for a decent section of the game. However, you have to give...

Odds favor Falcons to capture NFC

Many didnt see it coming two years ago when the Falcons went 13-3 and earned the NFCs top playoff seed for only the second time in franchise history. This time, its different. Only six weeks into the season and in the midst of their bye week, the Falcons appear as if home field advantage throughout the playoffs is virtually theirs to lose. They stand to reap the benefits of starting...

Monday Musings week 6: icing the kicker thaws Matt Bryant, Dez has a day, and Robert Griffin puts the Redskins on his back

It was another wild Sunday in Football. As always, the league remains unpredictable with plenty of close games, last minute victories and upsets. In fact, I had a pretty frustrating day as I struggled to predict most games, but, that’s how it goes. Here are some things I noticed when cursing my way through Sunday … I’ve said all that I need to say about icing the kicker in...

The Falcons are Outplayed, Outperformed, Move to 6-0

Your 2012 Atlanta Falcons have perfected something my Fantasy Football team has never done before: winning while playing poorly.  The Falcons needed a fumble recovery brought back to the two yard line, a defensive touchdown and three sacks by John Abraham to overcome an ineffective offense and arm-tackling defense in the 23-20 win over the Raiders. Ray Edwards finally making...

Ryan, Richardson hit wall in Week 6

Studs QB: Robert Griffin III, Redskins That the former Heisman winner laid a statistical smackdown for his owners (182 passing yards, 138 rushing yards and three scores) is not necessarily surprising, as this conquest correlated to his fifth appearance as a top-five fantasy quarterback in six outings on the season. What was unforeseen was such a coup against an outstanding defense...
