At the NFL meeting, Falcons coach Mike Smith reiterated his position that he made at the NFL Scouting Combine about the team being committed to Sam Baker as the left tackle.
The offensive line was hurt significantly by back and elbow injuries to Baker last season.
Smith believes the unit will be stronger if Baker, who had back surgery during the season, can return healthy. Will Svitek stepped in a played well for Baker last season and retained the starting spot once Baker returned from back surgery.
Baker had to spend some time at guard in a reserve role and played as an extra blocker in short-yardage situations.
"We are looking forward to having a healthy Sam back," Smith said. "Sam is very resilient. He's fought through a lot of injuries."
Smith went on to state that he'd be comfortable if Baker was the starting left tackle in 2012.
There is speculation that the Falcons should pick up Marcus McNeill, who was cut by San Diego this offseason. There ...

I was browsing google "news" for the Atlanta Falcons and came across an interesting article from a website called ThePigskinReport.com. The author basically states that he feels that the Falcons might be at their peak. His reasons for the feeling? The major players got one year older (Roddy, Turner and Gonzo), Matty Ice threw for more yards but also increased his turnovers...

The Falcons may be headed for a television channel too expensive for your average blogger, potentially showing up on HBO's Hard Knocks. If you have not seen the show, you should remedy that situation immediately. Not only is it very well done, but it has given the world sweet gems like this:
More after the jump, where we may or may not get a goddamn snack.
So if you follow Jay Adams (@FalconsJAdams), the lovable Digital Content Manager for the Atlanta Falcons, you would have seen this tweet earlier today.
Nope. I only work on projects that can happen. RT @Syngenetic: @FalconsJAdams are you still working on getting Matt Ryan a twitter account?

Well, it appears Matt Ryan was...
I might be the only Atlanta Falcons fan on earth that still has somewhat of a soft spot for Bobby Petrino. Yes, I think his cowardly ditch of the Falcons when Michael Vick was carted off to face dogfighting charges was epically wrong. But Petrino entertains me with his slick (slimy?) ways–even his press conferences can be things to remember. You know, the kinda things that get...
Up until last week's car crash, most people had forgotten about how Bobby Petrino left the Atlanta Falcons unceremoniously following just 13 games with the team back in 2007. The recent revelations that Petrino was having an illicit affair with a 25-year-old assistant caused every Falcons fan (like myself) to have the same reaction... "I'm not suprised, Petrino is a...
