Asante Samuel won't be lingering over the Falcons' latest win.
He's already looking forward to his return to Philadelphia.
Samuel brought back an interception 79 yards for a touchdown in the closing minutes and Matt Bryant connected on a 55-yard field goal with 1 second remaining, lifting unbeaten Atlanta to a sloppy 23-20 victory over the Oakland Raiders on Sunday.
As far as Samuel was concerned, it was a thing of beauty.
Especially his pick.
''You might go for your breakfast, you might go for your lunch,'' he said. ''But when you go for that dinner, you know deuce-deuce (22, his uniform number) has got to step up.''
Overcoming three interceptions by Matt Ryan, the Falcons (6-0) extended the best start in franchise history. But they'll have plenty to work on during their bye week.
''Even when you win, there's still a long laundry list of things you've got to do better,'' coach Mike Smith said.
BEST OF MAXIM
Never one to shy away from verbal jousting, Falcons cornerback Asante Samuel on Tuesday spiced up the subplot for the Falcons meeting at Philadelphia, his former team, on Oct. 21, with Twitter posts in response to the Eagles firing of defensive coordinator Juan Castillo.

Asante Samuel must be having himself a good laugh over the current panic in Philadelphia.
The Eagles shipped Samuel to the Falcons during the offseason for just a seventh-round pick, which the Philadelphia Inquirer's Jeff McLane said at the time was due to the cornerback falling out of favor with head coach Any Reid, who reportedly thought Samuel was in "...

The Atlanta Falcons are off to a 6-0 start in 2012. After squeezing out another last second win against the Oakland Raiders the Falcons will head into their bye week with the best record in the NFL. Contrary to my preseason prediction that Atlanta wouldn’t even make the playoffs, the Falcons appear to be a team on a mission; possibly a team of destiny.Matt Ryan has had tremendous...

ATLANTA (AP) -- Matt Bryant kicked his second game-winning field goal in three weeks, a 55-yarder with 1 second remaining, and the Atlanta Falcons remained unbeaten with a sloppy 23-20 victory over the Oakland Raiders on Sunday.

The Atlanta Falcons escaped yet another close call this Sunday against the Oakland Raiders. Matt Ryan had to orchestrate a third straight come-from-behind victory against the Carson Palmer led Raiders. But it could have been a blow-out by the Raiders as they beat Atlanta in every major statistical category except turnovers (3 a piece) and penalties (Oakland: 12-110; Atlanta 2...
Matt Ryan threw a not so perfect pass to Harry Douglas, but thanks to a bit of luck it ended up just fine. Ryan’s throw actually bounced off of the Raiders’ Joselio Hanson’s helmet and Harry was in the right place at the right time, and pulled in the catch. I’m fairly certain that this is not the way it was drawn it, but none of the Falcons are complaining.
ATLANTA – Matt Bryant's 55-yard field goal with one second to play capped another dramatic comeback in the Georgia Dome and kept the Falcons unbeaten heading into their bye week with a 23-20 victory over the Oakland Raiders. Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan, who was picked off three times in the first half, authored another game-winning drive, just two weeks after doing the...
Many Oakland fans had written off their Raiders with the season only one third complete. After seeing a brief ray of hope for a successful campaign throughout four quarters against an unbeaten Atlanta squad. The most dedicated of the Silver and Black's fan base might easily defect to the NBA rather than suffer through watching another Oakland debacle like Sunday's disappointing...
Falcons def. Raiders: The Falcons really have to give up this obsession with last second wins. While the Falcons should certainly be happy about being 6-0, the fact that they have barely won games against the Panthers, Redskins, and now the Raiders. This is the also the first week that Matt Ryan actually hurt the team for a decent section of the game. However, you have to give...
Coming in to Sunday's match up between the 5-0 Atlanta Falcons and the 1-3 Oakland Raiders, most people analyzing the game across the country figured it might be a lopsided affair with the Falcons easily getting past the Raiders.Oakland played well, well enough to give themselves a chance on the road at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, but in the end; could not muster enough pressure...
Many didnt see it coming two years ago when the Falcons went 13-3 and earned the NFCs top playoff seed for only the second time in franchise history.
This time, its different. Only six weeks into the season and in the midst of their bye week, the Falcons appear as if home field advantage throughout the playoffs is virtually theirs to lose.
They stand to reap the benefits of starting...
Your 2012 Atlanta Falcons have perfected something my Fantasy Football team has never done before: winning while playing poorly. The Falcons needed a fumble recovery brought back to the two yard line, a defensive touchdown and three sacks by John Abraham to overcome an ineffective offense and arm-tackling defense in the 23-20 win over the Raiders.
Ray Edwards finally making...
