PLAYERS: Matt RyanDrew Davis
TEAMS: Atlanta Falcons
The more Atlanta keeps winning, the more coach Mike Smith keeps tinkering with ways to help the Falcons improve. Smith's Falcons are 7-0 and the NFL's only unbeaten team, but the fifth-year coach still sees a club that's far from perfect. That's why Smith led the Falcons through a rudimentary practice coming off their bye. Despite the league's best record, Smith gave his players an entire week off before taking them back to the field to work on the basics of football - blocking, tackling and using proper angles to make the right plays. Maybe the approach sounds too simple, but Smith says the results were evident in Sunday's 30-17 victory at Philadelphia. Everyone from quarterback Matt Ryan to role players like receiver Drew Davis helped the Falcons stay unbeaten.

Atlanta Falcons: Matt Ryan Leading the 2012 MVP Race?

With yet another huge performance over the weekend in his hometown of Philadelphia, Matt Ryan continued to impress with his 2012 performance that saw his team remain undefeated and his most valuable player mentions at an all time high. Ryan is easy to overlook because he isn’t talked about much on the national level with the big name “elite” quarterbacks. He doesn’t do the...

Ryan leads unbeaten Falcons over Eagles 30-17

Either the Atlanta Falcons are really this good or the Philadelphia Eagles are really this bad. Matt Ryan threw touchdown passes on Atlanta's first three possessions against the Eagles and new defensive coordinator Todd Bowles, and the Falcons remained the NFL's only unbeaten team with a convincing 30-17 win over Philadelphia on Sunday. The Falcons improved to 7-0 for the...

Who Are These Undefeated Falcons

Who are the 2012 Atlanta Falcons?  After watching seven games, the best I can come up with is: "awesomely undefeated." Drew Davis upsetting fantasy football teams everywhere. I have seen stifling and opportunistic defenses only a week before seeing the same players struggle to stop a nosebleed.  Or even an offense that has averaged over 28 points a game but...

Sunday Funday: Thoughts From Week 8's Games

There's a long way to go and Matt Ryan had appeared to be the early front runner for MVP. Not anymore. He's got competition from Peyton Manning now. Did you see the Broncos beat down Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints Sunday night? Denver is starting to hit its stride. Better not peak too soon though in today's NFL.Here's the rest of the league in a nutshell...

Falcons win should cement spot as NFL's best

The Falcons loomed as the only unbeaten team remaining in the NFL, but they entered Sunday's game at Philadelphia as an underdog. Perception lurked greater than reality: The Eagles as NFC heavyweight, having gained a berth to the conference championship game five times in head coach Andy Reid's first 13 seasons; the Falcons as pretender, having gone 0-3 in the playoffs in...

Falcons beat Eagles to remain NFL's only unbeaten team

PHILADELPHIA - The Atlanta Falcons had to work too hard and too long for some of their earlier victories, and they didn't want the same thing to happen again. So they scored early and often and rolled to a 30-17 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday at rainy, windy Lincoln Financial Field to remain the NFL's only undefeated team. The Eagles had changed defensive...

Sunbutts calls it down the middle...we are not who we thought we were...Falcons 30, Eagles 17...

You've got to give Moonbeam credit (begrudgingly)... He's said all along the 2012 Eagles were deficient on both the defensive and the offensive lines, and at the safety positions... and last Sunday, he was proven correct.  The Eagles (3-4) were beaten and worn down off the snap on both sides of the ball, albeit by a very good Falcons team that is for real at 7-0.....
