The Atlanta Falcons made relatively easy work of the Detriot Lions Saturday night 31-18, led by Falcons QB Matt Ryan (25 of 32 for 279 yards), who matched his career high TD total for a season (27), throwing four TD passes, including two to Roddy White.
The 13-2 Falcons pulled away in the 4th quarter as the Lions were within five points, with Ryan's fourth TD to a wide-open Michael Palmer, and a Matt Bryant field goal that put them ahead by15 with 3:05 left to play.
The 4-11 Lions saw one bright spot for their team with receiver Calvin Johnson breaking Jerry Rice's NFL single-season yards record of 1,848.
Matthew Stafford finished the night 37/56, with 443 yards and one interception.
Before the game, the teams and and fans at Ford Field in Detroit honored the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings with a moment of silence. Players also had memorial decals on their helmets that read "S.H.E.S." in white on a black background, and Detroit's coaches wore pins with a like design.
