It now appears as if the shoulder injury that Atlanta Falcons WR Michael Jenkins suffered is worse than originally feared. Jenkins suffered the injury during an intrasquad scrimmage Friday night, and it is not yet known whether the receiver separated or dislocated his shoulder. As of now, the team is saying that he will miss the next four to six weeks depending on the severity of the injury, and that could put the season opener September 12 at Pittsburgh in jeopardy. Jenkins is entering his seventh season. The receiver out of Ohio State University has appeared in 92 games with 235 receptions for 3,007 yards and 18 touchdowns for his career. Atlanta may have to plan to be without him for the opener, so a few other candidates will have a shot to start opposite of Roddy White when the Falcons play the Steelers opening weekend.
