As long as you didn't do something silly like draft Peyton Manning No. 3 overall because you like his Buick commercial or take a kicker in the 5th round because he went to your college, you still have a good shot at the title.

Be active and pay attention and you have a huge advantage against most of your competitors.

Last season Cowboys running back Felix Jones suffered a high-ankle sprain in Week 6. DeMarco Murray entered Week 7 listed as the backup to Tashard Choice.

He ran for 253 yards, breaking Emmitt Smith's single-game Cowboys' rushing record.

On average this season, Murray was drafted in the middle of the 2nd round.

That is huge value for free.

Last week Buffalo Bills' starter, Fred Jackson, went down with a knee injury and is expected to be out from three to eight weeks. His backup, C.J. Spiller, responded by running for 169 yards and a touchdown on just 14 carries. He added 25 yards receiving on two catches.

These situations arise more often than you may think.

Just last night, while Jay Cutler was yelling at his linemen, superstar Matt Forte suffered a high-ankle sprain. I suspect he will miss some time and Michael Bush is now a potential monster.

Many of these players were already on rosters as aggressive people speculated on their potential late in the draft. Check your waiver wires just in case.

Some leagues have free points just sitting there.

If you are in a highly-competitive league here are a couple guys to take a flier on if you have a backup tight end or kicker on your roster wasting away.

Robert Turbin is currently the No. 2 running back behind Marshawn Lynch in Seattle. Lynch is expected to play this week but he has been bothered by back spasms. Turbin is a powerful runner and in my opinion ready to step in given the chance.

In Atlanta Michael Turner is the clear-cut starter. He is old by NFL running back standards and could wear down or break down. Behind him on the depth chart is Jacquizz Rodgers. That guy is fast and electric and just might be a better fit in the new, upbeat Falcons' scheme.

These guys will likely cost nothing. Just about everyone has a player or two on their team who is virtually worthless.

Cut them lose and pick up these lottery ticket players. Who knows, you could win big.
