James Jones, WR, Green Bay Packers Player Profile Height/Weight: 6-1/208 Birthdate: 3/31/1984 School: San Jose State FANTASY FOOTBALL ANALYSIS 2012 was a weird year for Green Bay Packers receivers. Not one of them reached 1000 yards, which, to be fair, was partly due to injuries to top options Jordy Nelson and Greg Jennings. What also was weird is that James Jones scored the most fantasy points among the group. He only hauled in 64 catches for 784 yards, but this man was a red zone machine, tallying 14 touchdowns. The question everyone has always had with Jones is whether or not he can be the guy to take the next step and be a top-shelf receiver. A couple years ago, it was Jordy Nelson who took that next step and leapfrogged Jones. Last year, it was Randall Cobb who jumped over him. 2013 is the last chance for Jones to be that next guy, especially with Greg Jennings likely out of the picture. I’m not necessarily saying that there is anything wrong with Jones as it is, but if owners want him to be a WR2 next year, he must step up his consistency on the field, because we all know we can’t rely on touchdowns. I look at Jones as a WR3 next year. He isn’t going to be getting close to 14 touchdowns. Nelson and Cobb likely will be the yardage leaders. It just doesn’t look good for Jones to get a ton of balls. However, luckily for him and fantasy owners, Aaron Rodgers is throwing him the ball, so there still should be enough balls to go around to notch him 700-800 yards. Updates None.
