Welcome to Fantasy Football Preview 2012.  Each week I will evaluate individual players, strategies, and philosophy leading up to your 2012 Fantasy Football League Draft.  And no, it is never too soon to talk Fantasy Football - mainly because it is summer time in Phoenix and I would melt if I stepped outside.  Standard scoring league formats only.  Subscribe via email  for frequent updates

His Aquaman socks were at the drycleaners
Robert Griffin III, QB, Washington: Redskins The 2011 Heisman Trophy winner from Baylor was spectacular throughout his college career at Baylor and will be the starting QB in Washington this year.  His above average passing efficiency and world class speed will make RG III very appealing in all fantasy football formats.
A closer look RG III:   Superman socks, the first person to have roman numerals on his NFL jersey, and better college passing numbers than Cam Newton has RG III as my pick to click in the 2012 NFL rookie fantasy football Nail It division. Do not expect RG III to put up Cam Newton fantasy football numbers in 2012, however, expect him to be very, very good.  RG III will excel in the drop back passing game, he is an accurate passer and he will electrify NFL fans with his ability to make big plays on bootlegs.  He has a few weapons as the Washington Redskins added WR Pierre Garcon in the off season. Combine Garcon, talented TE Fred Davis and a typical Shanahan balanced running attack and you are cooking with gas.  Look for a 30 touchdown season (passing and running) from RG III in 2012.  Plus, as good friend of The Show Speak and football guru RG I stated from his home in Tampa, Florida - “Bro, who is better than Superman?”  - Exactly.

(ADP = average draft position according to Fantasy Football Calculator; 2+reflects the two players at the same position drafted ahead of profiled player; 2- indicates the two players at the same position selected on average directly behind the profiled player.)

2012 Outlook:  RG III will be great.  However, not as a first quarterback selected.  He will not be Cam Newton this year -mainly because he won't get close to Cam's 13 rushing touchdowns from 2011.  I like RG III, but not at the expense of bypassing proven fantasy football producers like Big Ben, Jay Cutler or Matt Schaub.
