PLAYERS: Peyton Manning
TEAMS: Denver Broncos
Green Bay Packers wide receiver Randall Cobb proved he can be a reliable target for Aaron Rodgers. Could he now take the next step forward and be the Pack’s number one wideout?   Yesterday, I brought to you who I thought would be the top 5 fantasy wide receivers in 2013. In numerical order, those wide receivers were: Calvin Johnson, A.J. Green, Dez Bryant, Brandon Marshall and Julio Jones. Today, I will bring to you my 6-10 fantasy wide receivers of 2013, while comparing my list to those from and 6. Demaryius Thomas, Denver Broncos- (6) (7) The 2013 projections on has Demaryius Thomas receiving 1,284 yards and 8 touchdowns. You think Thomas was excited about Peyton Manning coming to town? You can bet his life earnings he was. Thomas had his best season in a Broncos’ uniform last year, catching 94 passes for 1,434 yards and 10 touchdowns. Thomas finished 2012 ranked 4th in receiving yards, 8th in receptions, and tied for 7th in receiving touchdowns. Those numbers also earned him his first trip to the Pro Bowl in 2012. With adding a guy like Wes Welker to the Broncos team, you can expect Thomas’s numbers to slightly decrease in 2013. But his soft hands and big frame, standing 6’3″ from the ground and weighing at 229 lbs, you can expect Thomas to have a Pro Bowl like season in 2013. 7. Percy Harvin, Seattle Seahawks- (7) (12) The 2013 projections on has Percy “is worthy and he is starving” Harvin receiving 1,054 yards and 6 touchdowns, while collecting 177 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown. Harvin only played nine games in ’12 because of a sprained ankle and had zero drops on 62 catches last season. Harvin also gets goal-to-go rushing attempts, and he’s one of the NFL’s toughest players to tackle in space. In Seattle, he gets a huge QB upgrade to Russell Wilson from Christian Ponder, and a creative West Coast offensive scheme that will line him up in different formations. If the Seahawks continue with their run-heavy offense, I believe that still won’t affect Harvin’s production. He is a playmaker, so expect him to get double-digit touches from scrimmage every week, no matter where he lines up. I believe Harvin will be huge in Seattle, that is, as long as the 5th year man out of the University of Florida can stay healthy. 8. Randall Cobb, Green Bay Packers- (11) (6) The 2013 projections on has Randall Cobb receiving 1,100 yards and 8 touchdowns, while collecting 170 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown. QB Aaron Rodgers told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that he thinks Cobb is ready to emerge as one of the NFL’s truly elite players in 2013. “I think he can be a 100-catch guy,” Rodgers said. “We haven’t had that here in a while. But I think he can. I think he’s a special player. As long as he can stay healthy, I think he’s going to be a big-time star for us.” Last year Cobb had 80 receptions for 954 yards and 8 touchdowns, 10 carries for 132 yards, 38 kickoff returns for 964 yards and 31 punt returns for 292 yards. I believe the departure of Greg Jennings (signed with the Minnesota Vikings) makes Cobb an even bigger part of the offense, and also makes him the number one target for Rodgers and the Pack. If Cobb remains the Packers’ top kick returner, he’ll have a chance of breaking Darren Sprolles’‘ record of 2,696 all-purpose yards in a season. 9. Larry Fitzgerald, Arizona Cardinals- (12) (11) The 2013 projections on has Larry Fitzgerald receiving 1,242 yards and 7 touchdowns. Remember those days where Fitzgerald was the top 5 wideout coming off every draft board. If you don’t, those days were only last year. But after a disastrous and frustrating year in 2012 where even I was up for the quarterback position in Arizona, Fitzgerald seems to have fallen on everyones draft board in 2013. Even with all that said, Fitzgerald still managed to catch 71 passes for 798 yards in 2012. That season can be erased now, as the Cardinals have Carson Palmer playing quarterback for them in 2013. A new QB means a whole new, or in this case, the old Larry Fitzgerald. The kind of player who made one-handed grabs over two defenders, while at the same time keeping both of his feet in bounds. The kind of player who grabbed 7 catches for 127 yards and 2 touchdowns in a Super Bowl. I’m excited to see the old Larry Fitzgerald back in 2013, because the top 10 highlights on Sports Center wasn’t the same without him! 10. Danny Amendola, New England Patriots- (19) (19) The 2013 projections on has Danny Amendola receiving 1,054 yards and 7 touchdowns. Let me explain to you why I have Amendola in my top ten: 1. You can’t do a fantasy football preview without having one of Tom Brady’s wide receivers at least in the top ten, it’s against the rule book of all previews. 2. Remember a guy named Wes Welker..I bet you do. Do you remember what team was Wes Welker in before he became a Patriot..I bet you don’t. That’s because Tom Brady made Wes Welker. And just in case you haven’t heard, this Danny Amendola guy is a 2.0 version of Wes Welker, meaning he can do anything Welker can do, but he is younger, bigger, and has better deep speed than him too. 3. Danny Amendola was actually a good receiver for the St. Louis Rams already. In the 11 games he played last season, he finished with 63 receptions for 666 yards. He accomplished that with a guy named Sam Bradford at quarterback, and for those of you who may not know Bradford as well, let’s just say he is nowhere near the passer Tom Brady is. Although, if there is one thing that you can knock on Amendola for, it is the fact that he has only played in 11 of a possible 32 games over the past two seasons with the Rams. My point is, the guy is injury prone. But if he doesn’t get hurt, and is able to play the full 16 games for Brady and the Patriots, you can expect Wes Welker kind of numbers from the 5th year man out of Texas Tech University. Wes Welker Compares Tom Brady, Peyton Manning to Picasso, Michelangelo
