Start Em’ QB – Peyton Manning DEN, Ryan Fitzpatrick BUF, Philip Rivers SD

rivers630 500x198 Fantasy Football Week 4 Start Em Sit Em

I really like Peyton Manning’s matchup against the Oakland Raiders. The Raiders defense thus far has been shredded by opposing quarterbacks. Manning should continue this trend. Last season against New England, Fiztpatrick garnered over 676 yards passing yards and threw for 6 touchdown in 2 games. Fitzpatrick and the Bills just seem to give New England fits whenever they meet. This is the classic time for a bounce back game for Phillip Rivers who looked god awful against Atlanta. I expect the Chargers’ passing attack to be a lot more lethal this week.

Sit Em’ QB – Matt Casel KC, Mark Sanchez NYJ, Tony Romo DAL

Cassel should head back to your bench this week facing the San Diego Chargers. The only passer who has been effective against them thus far has been Matt Ryan and he is the best fantasy quarterback of this young fantasy season. If Mark Sanchez struggled against the Miami Dolphins, what do you think he is going to do against a pissed off San Francisco 49ers defense? I expect Tony Romo to face an immense amount of pressure that will probably lead to a couple of picks. After his stellar week 1 performance, Romo has regressed.

Start Em’ RB – Ryan Mathews SD, Mikel LeShoure DET, BenJarvus Green-Ellis CIN

Ryan Matthews is finally 100 percent and should be a must start from here on out. His ability to make play in the passing game make him a great play. LeShoure took over the Detroit rushing attack with a strong performance last week in Tennessee. He could see a large workload as Detroit could be without Matthew Stafford. Every team that has faced the Jacksonville Jaguars thus far has been able to the run ball effectively. Green-Ellis should finally put in a complete game with a lot of yardage and a score.

Sit Em’ RB – Chris Johnson TEN, Darren Sproles GB, Shonn Greene NYJ

Until proven otherwise, Chris Johnson is a matchup based start and this week he belongs on your bench. Now granted the first week you sit him will probably be the only week he goes off. With his inconsistent role I would have a real concern about about putting Darren Sproles in my starting lineup. With the way the Saints have been going back and forth with their 3 backs, you just never know what you’re going to get. I would not start any New York Jets offensive player this week, especially Shonn Greene. Not only are the 49ers great against the run, Greene is losing carries to  Bilal Powell.

Start Em’ WR – Brandon Lloyd NE, Denarius Moore OAK, Hakeem Nicks NYG

Brandon Lloyd continues to do what he does at every stop and that is make plays. I’m expecting him to breakout and finally get into the end zone against Buffalo. It’s a little scary to endorse a Raiders wide receiver, but with virtually no one else left to throw it to Moore looks like a solid start this week. If Nicks is healthy, which is a huge if, I would insert him right away. The Philadelphia Eagles secondary looks in disarray right now and it should be the perfect match for Nicks.

Sit Em’ WR – Anquan Boldin BAL, Sidney Rice SEA, Randall Cobb GB

Anquan Boldin’s status as a clear starting fantasy wide receiver seems to be a thing of the past. His inconsistent play and lost ground to Torey Smith and Dennis Pitna would have me looking in another direction this week. Sidney Rice has a rookie quarterback and plays on a team that relies on it’s rushing attack. It also looks like Golden Tate is now the number one wide receiver in that offense. With Greg Jennings back healthy and Randall Cobb having little to show in his absence, I would just plan on stashing him away on your bench this week.

Start Em’ TE – Owen Daniels HOU & Brett Celek PHI

Throughout his career, Daniels has been a excellent tight end when he has been healthy. As of right now, he is healthy and a must start every week. Michael Vick will be under immense pressure from the New York Giants’ front four. I expect him to dump it off a lot to Celek this week.

Sit Em’ TE – Brandon Pettigrew DET & Jared Cook TEN

I expect Pettigrew to spend more of his day blocking for either a new quarterback in Shaun Hill or for an injured Matthew Stafford.  Ah the inconsistent Jared Cook, who comes up with a huge touchdown grab one week and then forgets to show up the next. Of his 77 yards receiving last week, 61 came on one play.

Start Em’ DEF NYG & Arizona

With how much the Philadelphia Eagles offense has struggled of late, I really like the New York Giants this week. It seems like whoever plays against the Eagles are guaranteed three turnovers and a lot of sacks. Arizona’s defense at this point should be a must start regardless of who they are playing. With that being said they should absolutely dominate the Miami Dolphins this week.

Sit Em’ DEF – New England & Buffalo

Since 2010, all but one of their games has featured at least one team scoring over 30 points. In both of their previous first encounters, both went for over 30 points. Not a good sign for fantasy defenses.

Lock of the Week – Marshawn Lynch SEA 100 rushing 1 TD

I’m keeping my lock a little more reasonable this week after my previous two picks have been solid, but not stellar. The only way Marshawn Lynch doesn’t end up with over 100 rushing yards and a rushing TD is if he gets hurt. Or, if they run out of Skittles in the Pacific Northwest.

Intriguing Matchup of the Week – Josh Freeman TB vs. Washington Redskins secondary

The Washington Redskins have given up the 2nd most passing yards in the NFL thus far. That being said Josh Freeman only managed 110 passing yards last week with most of that coming in the final four minutes of the ballgame. Could this be the week he turns it around?

Denver Broncos: team needs to allow Manning to operate no-huddle offense for entire game

When the Broncos opened up the Peyton Manning era in the season opener vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers on September 9th, Manning didn't turn the ball over a single time, and it was hard to find anything to criticize about Manning's debut with the 'Orange Crush', as he slowly dissected Pittsburgh's defense, going 19/26 for 253 yards and two touchdowns. From the...

Broncos receivers still adjusting to Manning

(Eds: APNewsNow. Will be updated. With AP Photos.) By ARNIE STAPLETON AP Pro Football Writer Never before in Peyton Manning's 15-year NFL career had so many passes missed their mark. Half of his 52 throws ended up somewhere other than in the hands of the man he was throwing to during Denver's 31-25 loss to Houston last weekend. And that doesn't count the one toss that...

Oakland Raiders Preparing for Peyton Manning and Denver Broncos Offense

After the Oakland Raiders victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, they will try to make it two in a row against AFC West rival Denver Broncos. That means preparing for soon to be Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning. “He’s Peyton Manning; he’s a Hall of Fame quarterback,” Raiders head coach Dennis Allen said. “There’s no way that we’re going to in any...

Denver Broncos News Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos are talking about the Oakland Raiders now. No more home losses please. [DenverBroncos.com] Apparently, Carson Palmer carries for Raiders fans as high of expectations as Manning does for Broncos fans. Talk about setting the bar low! [Denver Post] Some believe Joe Mays plays the game the way it was meant to be played, but I...

Oakland Raiders at Denver Broncos NFL Week 4 AFC West Preview

Peyton Manning did not have the bounce in his step after a loss that many expected, but the season is still young and luckily the Broncos play in a division that is completely wide open. Thank goodness because the Broncos cannot catch a cold these days if you threw it right at their faces. The defense, special teams and offense were abysmal albeit it was against arguably the two...

Peyton Man(ning) Up!

A lot of things look familiar when you watch Peyton Manning in the rarified air of Denver. He still jogs out of the tunnel as slowly as ever. His helmet still barely fits on his enormous melon. The press conference “gee shucks-ing” sounds about the same. But there is a huge difference this year, and that is Peyton Manning’s win record, which is below .500.

NFL Week 3: Houston vs Denver Recap

HOUSTON (31) d DENVER (25) The Headline: Texans hold on as Manning’s comeback falls just short The Story: For the first three quarters it was all Houston as the Texans passing game lit up the Broncos defense while the Texans shut down Peyton Manning, limiting his offensive output to three field goals (complemented by a safety from the defense). Everything was clicking for the...

Denver Broncos: Week 4 NFL Power Rankings (#9)

Last week: 9 (+1) Record: 1-2 Pittsburgh, Atlanta, Houston, talk about being welcomed back to the NFL harshly for Peyton Manning. The Broncos stand at 1-2, but they rank 9th in points per play differential and they’ve been competitive in all 3 games despite a tough schedule. They should still be very tough to beat at home with their no huddle in the high altitude, despite a loss...

Raiders LB Wheeler makes big impact with new team

(Eds: With AP Photos.) By JOSH DUBOW AP Sports Writer Philip Wheeler saw plenty of Peyton Manning and his hand signals and gesticulations in his first three seasons in the NFL as teammates on the practice field in Indianapolis. Wheeler hopes he will have more success dealing with Manning when they meet for the first time as opponents. The Raiders (1-2) visit Manning and the Broncos...

Patriots, Saints, Packers in last place

There is something wrong with this picture: Patriots, Saints, Packers and Peyton Manning all at the bottom of their divisions. And things won't get better for either New Orleans or Green Bay, who meet Sunday at Lambeau Field. But the weirdest line in the standings has to belong to New England. Not since 2003 have the Patriots been below .500. That year, they lost their opener...

Cincinnati Bengals: Week 4 NFL Power Rankings (#21)

Last week: 29 (+8) Record: 2-1 The Bengals, my original pick to go from out of the playoffs to 5 wins or fewer, are still in the running. I had them doing do because I thought they were the worst of the 12 playoff teams last season (other than Denver, who added Peyton Manning). Andy Dalton can move the ball well against crappy defenses like Cleveland and Washington, but he’s still...

The question now is whether they can sustain it.The Broncos have fought back in both of their last two losses...

NFC East Beat: Can Eagles Continue Mastery Over Giants?
