2012 Recap: I have been waiting since his rookie campaign for Dez to be a breakout star. In 2012, it happened. Dez used his supreme talent to make big plays and finished as the #1 fantasy WR over the last 8 games of the season thanks to his fantastic 18.4 FPG on 50/879/10. Dez Bryant played all 16 games for the first time in his career, but his rate stats were also career highs: 15.0 yards per catch, 67% catch rate, 86.4 yards per game. Dez is freakin’ stud and his breakout season was just the beginning.
What’s Changed: Not much has changed with the Cowboys offense as it will now be in the hands of new OC Bill Calahan. Dez will obviously be the focal point of the offense and the Cowboys should continue to chuck the rock, as the Boys had the 3rd most pass attempts in the NFL. Dez hadn’t proved he could he could stay healthy, but after playing the final three games (including a 9/224/2 outing against the Saints in Week 16) with a broken finger, he proved his doubters wrong.
Outlook: Bryant is a freak that put it all together in 2012 and since I have him ranked as the #2 WR only behind Megatron, I would have no problem with someone going with him in the second round if fantasy owners are not comfortable with the RBs available. Dez is clearly the #1 option in a high octane pass attack and even though Witten did have 10 more targets than Bryant, Bryant tied him with 14 red zone targets. All the check marks are there: elite talent, pass happy offense, and a nice schedule, all make Dez a guy who will make a strong push to challenge Megatron for the #1 WR this season.

In 2012, the Cowboys acquired cornerback Brandon Carr in free agency and Morris Claiborne via the draft so they have corners who can play man coverage.
However, in the offseason, they gutted their 3-4 defense run by Rob Ryan and went out and hired Cover 2 guru Monte Kiffin as their defensive coordinator.
Carr and Claiborne are not a good fit for the Cover 2 scheme, which will...
The Dallas Cowboys announced today that they’ve signed second round pick, tight end Gavin Escobar. The Cowboys signed second-round pick Gavin Escobar on Friday, leaving first-round pick Travis Frederick as the only draft pick yet to sign. Escobar became the third tight end to be drafted in the second round by the Cowboys since 2006. The other two, Martellus Bennett and Anthony...
Jason Garrett apparently isn't the type of NFL head coach who goes around bragging about what he does for a living.
An example of his modesty was on display when the Dallas Cowboys coach met actress Olivia Munn in February at an event during Super Bowl weekend in New Orleans.
Munn, who stars in HBO's "The Newsroom," is an Oklahoma City native who attended the...
Dallas Cowboys running back Phillip Tanner may just be the odd man out this season with the team currently holding a stable of backs. DeMarco Murray is the starter, followed by Lance Dunbar, rookie Joseph Randle, undrafted rookie Kendial Lawrence and veteran fullback Lawrence Vickers.
Tanner saw limited play time last season with only 25 carries for 61 yards, but this offseason...
It has been an off-season that Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett likely can't wait to be over. Some were calling for his head after a disappointing '12 campaign. That never appeared to enter into owner Jerry Jones's mind, but Jones did see fit to set the stage for Garett's ouster should the team stumble again in '13 by stripping him of play calling duties...
The Cowboys just announced they had signed second-rounder Gavin Escobar, the 47th overall pick. That leaves only first-rounder Travis Frederick without a deal among their seven picks.
Escobar could make an early impact for the Cowboys, as they’ve made a point that they want to use two-tight end sets more often this year. While veteran Jason Witten will remain the primary target...

Former Dallas Cowboys offensive lineman Nate Newton was interviewed on a Dallas-area radio last week, and was asked about Texas A&M starting quarterback Johnny Manziel. Newton said Manziel needed to try to be like "an everyday guy."

living in that world of – he got instant success...
The Dallas Cowboys have signed tight end Gavin Escobar, their second-round draft pick.
With Escobar's deal Friday, the only of the team's seven draft picks unsigned is Travis Frederick. The Wisconsin center was selected 31st overall.
Escobar, the 47th overall pick in April, played 39 career games for San Diego State. He had 122 catches for 1,646 yards and 17 touchdowns...

Perhaps the biggest question marks exist entering the 2013 season for the Dallas Cowboys at the safety position. This position was a huge weakness in 2012, and still remains an immediate weakness for the Cowboys.
With the switch to Monte Kiffin’s Cover 2, corners Brandon Carr and Morris Claiborne will be relied upon to play much more man-coverage,...
