Found September 24, 2013 on Fox Sports South:
An NFL 'Survivor' pool is a game of chance, where contestants are asked to select one lead-pipe cinch for wins in Weeks 1, 2, 3, 4, etc., with the caveat of only using a particular club once per season (in victory, at least). For example, I correctly had Andrew Luck and the Colts rolling over the Raiders at home in Week 1. By virtue of that, I can no longer designate Indianapolis to win for Weeks 2-17. The same held true for the Patriots (over the Jets) in Week 2. I can no longer pick Tom Brady and Co. to prevail the rest of the way. Any incorrect picks automatically knock a contestant out of the pool. And if anyone should be left standing by Week 17, they're entitled to all or some of the winnings (which can be quite lucrative). Here are my revised, full-season picks for 2013. Adding to the degree of difficulty, I can only choose teams to lose no more than twice. SURVIVOR PICKS Week 1: Indianapolis over Oakland Week 2: New England over N.Y. Jets Week 3: Seattle over Jacksonville Week 4: New Orleans over Miami Week 5: St. Louis over Jacksonville Week 6: San Francisco over Arizona Week 7: Green Bay over Cleveland Week 8: Cincinnati over N.Y. Jets Week 9: Washington over San Diego Week 10: Pittsburgh over Buffalo Week 11: Chicago over Baltimore Week 12: Detroit over Tampa Bay Week 13: Dallas over Oakland Week 14: Denver over Tennessee Week 15: Atlanta overs Washington Week 16: Philadelphia over Chicago Week 17: N.Y. Giants over Washington Survivor Rules To Live By 1. Above all, target a home team to win that particular week. 2. When in doubt, exploit (presumed) bottom-feeder clubs on the road (Raiders, Jets, Jaguars, etc.). 3. It's typically best to avoid prime-time games between teams of similar stature. 4. Don't use the Packers, Broncos, 49ers, Seahawks, Texans or Patriots in Week 17 after they've clinchedplayoff spots. 5. Avoid picking against the Vikings, Saints, Giants and Steelers for now. 6. Only pick significant home upsets from games involving intra-divisonal opponents. 7. Don't be afraid to pick against the world champion Ravens on the road. 8. When considering intra-divisional foes, don't be afraid to guarantee Team A's victory the first time around... and Team B's triumph on the flip side.
