Favre
Mr. Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers made a surprise make-up handshake at the NFL honor awards.  Well done NFL!  That was genius and must watch TV! Click here to view the embedded video. Obviously it was 99.9% scripted.  But of course the actual words don’t tell the story it’s the body language and everything else that creates the story. Let’s get to it. The first :12 seconds they are nervous.  They are saying silly talk, trying to be the alpha male.  Aaron takes the charge and is in the lead.  Brett concedes to that fact.  Showing Aaron is indeed and rightfully so, one guy is in his prime, one guy in on his tractor. Brett is looking really old.  Fat.  Tired.  Gray.  ****, isn’t he almost the same age as me?  Also he does look tan (tractor riding?).   What’s with the glasses.  Trying to fit in, trying to look younger.  Or seriously just old.  Crap.  Darn.  A-Rodgers looking good. Hands in pocket at 16 seconds would show a defensive tactic.  Passive-agressive.  No one is trying to be dominant here, but also very defensive pose. Brett forces first smile at :29 seconds.  Aaron has yet to smile.  That’s a very long time. At :41 seconds Brett touches Aaron on shoulder and leans in just a bit.  Aaron slaps him on back, almost a push off, like that’s enough. At :45 seconds they shake hands.   Aaron keeps his eyes closed which is key.  No eye contact, passive-aggressive posture.  Alpha male all the way.  Brett goes in for the shake, then does the double hand shake and then the really bad man hug.  He is trying to give affection to the alpha male that is not reciprocated. At :54 seconds Aaron says the only unscripted line, “That was awkward.”  There is your first real laugh and unforced smile from both parties.  At :57 seconds they make real eye contact and acknowledge that it was actually something they can agree on.  Note at :58 seconds Michael Irvin is coughing from marijuana use… or something worse. At some point Brett leaves his hands out of his pockets.  He is still visibly uncomfortable keeping them moving and in prayer formation.  Aaron refuses to let them get out of his pocket.  They stay hidden in alpha male, don’t EFF with me mode. And Peyton wins…blah blah blah.

Saturday night was the second annual NFL Honors Awards show where the biggest AP honors of the season are presented to their recipients.
