During his incredible eighteen-year NFL career, Brett Favre broke just about every record possible under center. By far, his most impressive feat, however, was starting 297 consecutive games, a milestone unlikely to be topped.

Or will it? According to longtime Packers head trainer Pepper Burruss, anything is possible.

Burruss, whose spent the last two decades in ‘Titletown,’ told the Green Bay Press-Gazette that “you never say never” in regard to Favre’s legendary streak.

“Brett had a few concussions in his career, but you never say never,” said Burruss.

“Records are meant to be broken and his streak was remarkable … Brett is one of those guys in a long line where you shook your head and said, ‘Wow, he’s like the Timex guy. He takes a licking and keeps on ticking.’”

While that old adage is certainly true, it could be a while before this particular record is broken.

Of all active quarterbacks, Peyton Manning, who started 208 consecutive games, had the best shot of unseating Favre, if only those pesky neck surgeries didn’t sap his entire 2011 campaign.

Next in line is another of the Manning lineage, Eli, who’s third all-time with 119 straight starts. Unfortunately, though he has more rings than Favre, Eli would need to play another eleven seasons or so to get within reach of the record.

So, unless a prodigal 19-year-old enters the league, and goes on to start every game for 20 seasons, nobody, it seems, is coming close to No. 4.
