On Monday night the Chicago Bears were embarrassed on National television and not because they lost the game to a better Detroit Lions’ team but because they were very undisciplined in doing so. Timeouts in the first half were poorly managed, challenges were wasted, and The Penalty Flag was thrown repeatedly for false starts. Let’s be honest, Lovie Smith’s and Rod Marinelli’s time in Chicago is up. The Bears are a mess right now. They have nice offensive pieces but no offensive identity. The Bears’ defense, once a strength, has proven to be a serious liability this season giving up big plays game after game and rank in the bottom five in the NFL against both the pass and rush. In eight years as the Bears’ head man, Lovie Smith is 65-52 with a 3-3 postseason record. Under Smith the Bears did go to a Super Bowl in 2006 but fell short of their championship aspirations to Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts.  Then again, last season the Bears hosted the NFC Championship game and we all know how that one turned out.
