Found August 30, 2013 on The Detroit Sports Site:
The rout was on early for the Detroit Lions against the Buffalo Bills on Thursday night’s preseason finale. Even though the Lions offense put up 35-points, it was mostly the second and third team offenses that found the end zone, leaving lingering questions about Matthew Stafford’s ability to lead this team. First Down: Turnovers Detroit’s coaching staff has stressed the need to get turnovers this year and attributed their poor turnover differential to the slide in record last season. Well, thus far the Lions have rectified their turnover woes. Rashean Mathis and Bill Bentley had solid interceptions and Michael Spurlock had a fumble recovery on special teams last night.  Fourth Down: Matthew Stafford and the first team offense. It was not a good night for Matthew Stafford and the Lions’ first team offense. Stafford went 1-6 with just 12-yards passing and missed a wide-open Patrick Edwards many times, including in the end zone. Even though Stafford was out there without his top-two targets, Calvin Johnson and Reggie Bush, he is still trying to get a level of comfort going with presumptive no. 2 receiver Edwards. First Down: Kellen Moore looks like the backup of the future. There have been rumblings all preseason that Kellen Moore may lose his roster spot because there is no-way he is going to be the heir apparent to Shaun Hill. Well, Moore had another two touchdowns last night and moved the offense well to show he can in-fact potentially be a quarterback in this league. With by far his most incomplete passes this preseason, with just eight, Moore has proven he can take over and most likely deliver the ball to Calvin Johnson just as well as any other quarterback on the roster. Fourth Down: Mike Leshoure fails to impress again It is clear that Joique Bell is the no. 2 back on this roster and is going to be the first guy in when Bush comes out. It is great for the Lions that they found a great complimentary back with Bell, but Leshoure was a draft pick and supposed to be the next great running back in Detroit. A torn achilles and some bad choices though, now leaves Leshoure as a guy who could be in the discussion of being traded or cut with rookie Theo Riddick playing well. First Down: No one got hurt As always, the goal of every preseason game, particularly the last one, is for no player to leave the game injured. Fourth Down: Chris Greenwood looks like a practice squad candidate. Greenwood, a middle round draft pick out of D-III Albion in Michigan, has the intangibles to be a fantastic corner in the National Football League. He missed extensive time with injuries though and his time away from the field showed last night. He was absolutely torched on 73-yard passing play and does not look like a player who can contribute to the roster this year. I would not be surprised if the Lions did not try to sneak him through waivers. First Down: Theo Riddick Looks like Reggie Bush in Training Riddick caught two touchdowns and rushed for 26-yards on the night. Even though it was not an incredibly impressive performance, it shows his versatility and how playing alongside a guy like Bush could help him develop his skills to become what looks like a great late-round pick. Fourth Down: Ziggy Ansah was not cleared to travel. While it is minor and Ansah probably would not have played much in the game anyway, Ansah failing to be cleared to fly to Buffalo is a sure sign that he has a concussion. He should, keyword is should, be ready for week 1 against the Minnesota Vikings, but with brain injuries time-tables to return are always just guesses.

Matthew Stafford's girlfriend does amateur modeling

Matthew Stafford’s girlfriend Kelly Hall spent some time in Costa Rica this week while the Detroit Lions quarterback continues to prepare for the 2013 season. Fortunately for all of us, she made just enough of her vacation public to keep us entertained. My favorite moment that Hall captured in Costa Rica was a toss-up between […]

Matt Stafford’s girlfriend Kelly Hall is dancing again, this time in a bikini

Last time we saw Kelly Hall, the gorgeous girlfriend of Lions QB Matt Stafford, she was showing off her dance moves at a charity event. Well Hall is back cutting a rug once again, although this time the only charity she’s benefiting is the lonely people of the Internet who enjoy seeing a sexy and attractive woman getting jiggy in a bikini while vacationing in Costa Rica. Via Hall’s...

Detroit Lions release two of their 9 draft picks

The Detroit Lions are not playing around. They are cutting draft picks left and right. Bot a good sign for the scouting department members. @davebirkett: #Lions parted ways with rookie 7th-round pick Brandon Hepburn. Another PS candidate. That’s 2 of this year’s 9 draft picks. Corey Fuller was also released who was a fifth rounder […]

Mathew Stafford's Girlfriend Kimberly Hall is a Peach

Detroit Lions quarterback Mathew Stafford is doing alright. The man recently signed a nice contract extension. He has one of the best wide receivers in the game to throw to. He might actually have a running game for a change in Reggie Bush. And than there is his girlfriend--the lovely Kimberly Hall. Lucky for us she is pretty photogenic and likes to share her pictures...

Lions' Megatron to sit again

Receiver Calvin Johnson, hampered by a bruised knee, will miss his third straight exhibition game Thursday night when the Detroit Lions play their preseason finale in Buffalo. Johnson has missed most of practice for the last couple weeks, too, but he did work out on the field before the game. Other key players who wont play include running back Reggie Bush, defensive tackle Ndamukong...

Lions’ Ziggy Ansah could have concussion, but nothing is certain

The Lions have high hopes for Ezekiel Ansah, whom they took with the fifth overall pick in the draft. Unfortunately, after being blindside by Leroy Harris during a non-padded practice on Saturday, he may miss some time. Ansah finished the Saturday practice, but unable to work on Sunday and was taken to the locker room during team stretches. When ask about the injury Head Coach...

Ex-NFL players part of brain study in Detroit

Months before the NFL and former players agreed to settle their concussion-related lawsuits, a Detroit-based neurologist began what he calls a ''landmark study'' on the brains of 50 former players. Dr. Randall Benson sounded skeptical of the NFL's future research plans Thursday when it was announced the league agreed to give $765 million to diagnose and compensate...

Draft picks not immune from Lions' final cuts

Four recent draft picks were among the final cuts Saturday as the Detroit Lions trimmed their roster from 75 to 53 going into the first week of the regular season. Heres the recap of what went down: Cornerback Chris Greenwood, a fifth-round pick last year out of Albion College, was one of the casualties. Greenwood hasnt gotten much practice time to develop because he was hampered...

Lions power past Bills in preseason finale

The preseason is over. Now, a couple days of anxiety as the players fighting for one of the final spots on the team wait to see which 22 get released and exactly who makes the 53-man roster heading into the opening week of the regular season. The Detroit Lions, like all NFL teams, must make their final cuts by 6 p.m. on Saturday. The Lions finished the preseason with a 3-1 record...

Norwegian YouTube Kicker Released

Bummer. Remember Norwegian Kicker and YouTube sensation Harvard Rugland? OK, I don't recall the name either, but I do remember his YouTube video, Kickalicious making the rounds last winter: I'm pretty sure that's the Dropkick Murphys playing in the background (nice "kick" choice, Harvard). Well, unfortunately, the Detroit Lions cut Rugland on Tuesday...
