Football Schedule Flickr Page Us football fans love our fantasy football. Theres always surprise players who breakout every season. So what running backs will breakout this season and make an impact? Heres my list after looking at all the running backs who have not reached their full potential and are ready to start this season.   5.) Le’Veon Bell, Pittsburgh Steelers     -After being drafted in the second round with the 48th overall pick, Bell is looking to replace Rashard Mendenhall as starting running back for the Steelers. Bell looked great playing for Michigan State, he lead the nation in carries and was the Big Ten’s leading rusher. He finished his junior season with 382 attempts, 1,793 rushing yards, and 12 rushing touchdowns. He’s a good size at 6’2’’ and 230 pounds. He has amazing balance and is very strong which helps him break tackles, his power lets him punish most defenders. He’s a good receiver and can catch away from his body. So look for Le’Veon Bell to make an impact with the Steelers this season. 4.) Gio Bernard, Cincinnati Bengals     -The best running back in this years draft is looking to open eyes after being drafted in the second round with the 37th pick by the Bengals. Before being drafted his season with North Carolina went pretty good with 184 attempts, 1,228 rushing yards, and 12 rushing touchdowns. He’s a bit small at 5’ 10’’ but he makes up for it with his great feet and can change direction well. Great acceleration where he could go for long gains. He is the best receiving back from the draft and is an above average punt returner. He will surprise this season in the NFL. 3.) Mark Ingram, New Orleans Saints    -What happened to the 2009 Heisman winner? When Ingram was drafted in the first round by the Saints he was supposed to be one of the best running backs in the league, but last season he had 156 attempts, 602 rushing yards, and 5 rushing touchdowns, not very elite. But in his two years in the NFL he has improved, and this is the year I think he will finally show his potential. He has great speed and burst, with good power and great force. So look for him to finally show his skill this season. 2.)Lamar Miller, Miami Dolphins   -Miller was an electric player when he played for the Miami Hurricanes with 227 attempts, 1,272 rushing yards, and 9 rushing touchdowns. I remember loving watching him play, especially when he would get out in the open and make big plays. He was supposed to be one of the top running backs in the 2012 draft but fell back all the way into the fourth round and was a steal for the Dolphins. In his rookie season he had 51 attempts, 250 rushing yards, and one rushing touchdown. He did good for a backup. But this year he’s taking the reins from Reggie Bush and is ready to make an impact on this team. As the starting running back, Miller is going to surprise the league. 1.)Doug Martin, Tampa Bay Buccaneers   -I know what you’re thinking. The Muscle Hamster? The guy who had 319 attempts, 1,454 rushing yards, and 11 rushing touchdowns? How is he going to breakout this season when he already has? But listen, last season when he did all that he was only a rookie, don’t you think this guys going to get even better? He is an all around great player, he’s like Ray Rice but better. He has great agility, and uses his spin and juke moves perfectly. He has a very good burst and switches direction fluidly. He has great vision of the field. So look for the Muscle Hamster to get even better and may even lead the league in rushing this season.   There’s my list, maybe some of you think i’m crazy but i’m sticking with these five guys to really surprise the league this season.

New Orleans Saints offseason: all eyes on Mark Ingram

Coming off a disappointing season, much of the blame was laid on the historically atrocious defense that took the field last season, and rightfully so. However, this doesn’t mean the offense is completely free of blame. Drew Brees, for one, threw a league high 19 interceptions, and the offense was close to the bottom in time of possession. Though the time of possession can also...

PFZ Interview: Buccaneers linebacker Jonathan Casillas

I had the pleasure of speaking with linebacker Jonathan Casillas today as he gets ready to begin his first season with the Buccaneers after playing in New Orleans for the first few years of his career. Of course the highlight of Jonathan’s career was recovering the opening second half onside kick that the Saints converted during their Super Bowl XLIV win over Peyton Manning and...
