The Florida Gators added two Florida-native commitments in their Class of 2023 recruiting cycle. Quarterback Marcus Stokes flipped his decision from Penn State to the University of Florida. Running back Treyaun Webb chose the Gators over South Carolina and Penn State.

Both athletes are the first recruitments at their positions for the Gators. Florida’s focus in its recruitment process is bringing in as many instate prospects as possible.

Stokes announced his commitment to the Penn State Nittany Lions in early April. After the Gators failed to land Jaden Rashada, UF allowed Stokes to visit the campus. After their meeting, Billy Napier expressed how well the prospect would fit in their offense.

Running backs coach Jabbar Juluke earns the credit for Webb’s commitment. They formed a bond and made Webb feel wanted. The running back is a legacy with the University of Florida. His cousin, Dee Webb, played for the Gators from 2004-2005.

“He said that they need me and that I’m a priority for them. He said they’re going to put a fence around the state of Florida so that none of the top talent leave the state. They feel like with all of the Florida guys on the roster that they can go win a Natty.”

A Look at the New Florida Gators

Stokes attends Nease High School in Ponte Verde, FL. He exploded in his junior year, completing 196 passes for 2,672 yards and 22 touchdowns. The QB led the team in rushing with 496 yards on the ground for six TDs.

The 6-foot-2, 185-pound athlete is a four-star athlete on 247Sports (a three-star on ESPN). According to 247Sports, he ranks 175th on their Class of 2023 prospects and earned a 91 player rating.

Treyaun Webb plays football for Trinity Christian Academy in Jacksonville, FL. As a junior, he ran for 1,192 yards on 148 carries with 11 touchdowns.

On ESPN’s Class of 2023 Top 300, Webb places at No. 158. The No. 7 running back in the country received an 83 scout grade.

In Conclusion

The Florida Gators own 11 Class of 2023 commits. With Webb and Stokes on board, UF totals eight four-star athletes.

Both of their commitments result in Florida jumping to No. 26 on 247Sport’s national recruiting list. The Gators look to target more ball carriers and receivers for the remainder of their recruiting process.

After a disappointing season, new head coach Billy Napier seeks to resurrect the Gators as contenders in the SEC.
