PLAYERS: Joe Anderson
TEAMS: Chicago Bears
Continuing our look at some of the players on the Bears roster that may be going unnoticed as we head into training camp. Under the microscope this time; rookie wide receiver Joe Anderson. Out of Texas Southern University, Anderson arrived at Chicago's mini camp as an undrafted free agent. Several days later he was signed to a three year deal, so he must have impressed Lovie Smith and the rest of the Bears coaching staff. Listed at 6'1 and 196 lbs, he may be a little on the small side, and he finds himself amongst a very crowded group of receivers. It's unlikely he will see much playing time, but he has the opportunity to learn from players such as Earl Bennett, Devin Hester and Brandon Marshall, so lets hope he soaks it all up on his way to becoming a good prospect, moving forward. In his senior year at Texas Southern Anderson racked up 47 receptions for 638 yards and scored four touchdowns. He also had 16 career kickoff returns for 289 yards, averaging just ove...

Young MC offers Jay Cutler second crack at ‘Take Me Out to the Ballgame’

Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler needn’t worry about his historically awful rendition of “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” last Saturday in front of terrified and likely traumatized onlookers at Wrigley Field. Why? Because Young MC has got his back. Wait. What? In case you missed it, Cutler’s performance of the traditional song sung during [...]

Chicago Bears' running backs rank 4th

SB Nation is running a series ranking the position groups of all 32 teams in the NFL. Today's post is about the running backs, and the Chicago Bears landed 4th on the list. I wonder where they would have fallen had Matt Forte not signed? After the jump we'll take a look at what they had to say about the fellas running the ball for the Bears. The addition of free agent...

On the flip side, the OL is still a potential sieve that basically went ignored." [Video] A look ahead at Bears training camp - Bowen talks a lot of sense. Kaplan doesn...

Chicago Bears veteran on the hot seat: Devin Hester

Devin Hester is the best return man in the history of the NFL. You would think that is all you'd have to write about Hester given the excitement that builds with every thump of a punt towards him.  The drama is palpable up until the whistle blows or Hester crosses the goal line. That's part of the fun of having Hester on the team, he's a threat to score a touchdown...

Brian Urlacher says Bears have the talent for Super Bowl

Coming off a MCL and PCL injury in his left knee, but when the bears have their first day in training camp on July 28, he’ll be ready. From the Waddle and Silvy Show and fannation.com, Urlacher said: “I’m full go for everything, so I won’t be missing anything. Athletically and mentally, we’re one of the best defenses in the NFL,” Urlacher said. “You look at position...

Jay Cutler Can't Sing and Other Obvious News

Chicago sports fans are still kind of upset at Jay Cutler for leaving the NFC Championship Game with what appeared to be a minor, if any, injury. So what better to improve his image with people within Chicagoland than to sing during the seventh inning stretch. It didn't go well. Cutler isn't a singer, but it seemed like it put as much effort into the song as he did the...

Young MC Invites Jay Cutler to Sing with Him

He wants me to what T? Late 80′s Rapper Young MC wants to give Cutler a second chance at singing “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” when the Bears’ QB rolls into nearby Bourbonnais for training camp later this month. Cutler recently gave a less than stellar effort at Wrigley Field, which prompted Young MC to invite Jay to do it one more time. I would much prefer Jay to give Bust...

Training Camp Preview: Wide Receiver Position

The Bears have struggled to find talent at the wide receiver position lately. The team hasn’t had a receiver record 1,000 yards receiving since Marty Booker posted 1,000+ yards in 2002. Running back Matt Forte led the team in receptions with 52, while Johnny Knox and Roy Williams tied for second on the team with 37. Neither Knox or Williams will be on the Bears roster this season...

Chicago Bears 2012 NFL Season Preview

Offense The Bears were off to a 7-3 start last year, one year after going 11-5 and making it to the NFC Championship game. In my opinion, the Bears’ 7-3 start last year was more impressive. Their 11-5 2010 record was not fully indicative of how they played. They had a Pythagorean Expectation of just 9.4 wins and that was in spite of the fact that their 11 wins were against a 6...

Chicago Bears: Don't Underestimate QB Jason Campbell

For the most part, Jason Campbell has had a rough NFL career. He was drafted in the first round by the Washington Redskins in 2005, he was considered one of the top five quarterbacks in the draft that year. At first it seemed that he was primed for greatness. Coming out of college, he was considered one of the most efficient quarterbacks in the history of Auburn University. He put...
