Jacoby Ford is glad he got a clunker of a game out of the way in the preaseason.
Ford had a rather forgettable exhibition opener for the Oakland Raiders. He dropped two passes, was unable to break up an interception on a deep ball from Carson Palmer and muffed a punt for Oakland (tied for No. 23 in the AP Pro32) in a 3-0 loss to Dallas on Monday night.
Back on the practice field Wednesday, Ford said those types of games happen and he's happy this one came before things really count in September.
Ford is being counted on heavily for the Raiders this season as one of the few experienced receivers on the roster.

Less than 24 hours after announcing they had waived/injured two players, the Oakland Raiders have announced the signing of Korey Bosworth to replace one of the two vacated roster spots (leaving the team with 87 of 90 spots filled). Bosworth, listed at 6’1″ and 230lbs., came into the league in 2010, signing as an undrafted [...]
After only three days of rest since their 2012 debut against Dallas, the Oakland Raiders are ready to step onto the field again tomorrow at 7 P.M. (PDT) to face the Cardinals in Arizona. Even though it is still pre-season, it will be a very valuable game for several players who are looking to get [...]
Jeff Demps the Olympic sprinter and former RB for the Florida Gators has announced he is ready to get back to Football and the Raiders are in need of adding another running back with all the injuries that are piling up. Jeff Demps played for the Florida Gators for four years as a change of [...]
If you’re an NFL rookie who thinks you have it bad, just be thankful you don’t play in Oakland. We don’t really know if their rookies actually get the worst haircuts or if they simply do a great job of publicizing it, but any rookie who plays for the Raiders might as well completely shave their own head before training camp begins. Otherwise, there’s no guarantee you won’t...
Oakland Raiders preseason football debuted on Monday Night and even though the score was a 3-0 victory for the Cowboys there was still a lot to like about the debut. Some significant players had a great game and others struggled enormously which should cause concern for anyone. What makes this Cowboys game great for evaluation [...]
Oakland Raiders quarterback Terrelle Pryor isn’t very happy with how poorly he played on Monday night against the Dallas Cowboys.
“I’m angry at myself,” Pryor said as he sat at his locker. “I don’t think I played well. I thought Matt (Leinart) played great. I thought Carson (Palmer) played great. I thought everyone else on the team played great. I just think...
Raiders head coach Dennis Allen updated the status of some of the team's injured players after practice yesterday in advance of Fridays's game with the Arizona Cardinals.First, injured RB Mike Goodson, who was out with a neck injury following a very scary collision during a practice with pads last week returned to practice and is set to get his first playing time in Silver...
The long anticipated return to live action for the Oakland Raiders ended in a 3-0 loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night Football in their preseason opener. The score in preseason games matter little because the starters and contributors play very little. The Raiders were able to get a look at the players on the roster and evaluate the strength and weaknesses.
It's early yet to start predicting the effectiveness of any NFL team's offense or defense, since we're primarily seeing names on the backs of Raiders jerseys we might never hear of again.
However, if Monday night's preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys is any indication, fans of the silver and black may be able to cheer on a defense that hearkens back to a more...
Inconsistency was the word of the game for the Raiders who were shut out at home in their 2012 preseason opener versus the Dallas Cowboys.
The starting offense only played a few series and moved the ball well but some miscues between QB Carson Palmer and WR Jacoby Ford kept them from capitalizing on Darren McFadden's hard running.
In the first drive, the Raiders moved down...
