Found January 09, 2014 on Minus Twenty-Two:
As the 49ers get set to play the Panthers in the divisional round of the playoffs this weekend, former 49ers long snapper Brian Jennings (yes, the long snapper, of all people) has a personal bone to pick with Cam Newton—a bone to the tune of $25,000. It goes back to when both players were on the NFC squad in the 2012 Pro Bowl, in which Newton, then a rookie who replaced a Super Bowl-bound Eli Manning on the roster, and his lack of preparation (sounds about right back then), according to Jennings, cost the NFC players the $25,000 winners bonus. The NFC lost 59-41. Here’s what Jennings (who has a light-hearted reputation and speaking with a jokey intonation in the interview, mind you) said to KNBR’s morning show with Murph and Mac on Wednesday (you can listen along beginning at 6:25 here): “Cam Newton owes me $25,000, a lot of people don’t know that… I was fortunate enough to go to the Pro Bowl in 2011. We’ve got Aaron Rodgers at quarterback, it’s the Green Bay offense. We’ve got Dre...

Newton also sees the growth in his play and compared it to a smart phone software update. “We all...

This just in: Cam Newton appears to reveal that he is some kind of cyborg quarterback

As the Carolina Panthers prepare for a playoff showdown with the San Francisco 49ers at Bank of America Stadium on Sunday, much of the talk has surrounded the resurgence this season of franchise quarterback Cam Newton. After a 7-9 campaign last season where Newton, in his sophomore campaign, put up respectable numbers in pretty much […]The post This just in: Cam Newton appears...

Ex-49ers player says Cam Newton owes him $25,000

Former San Francisco 49ers long snapper Brian Jennings won’t be with the team on Sunday, but he wants everyone to know that he still has a score to settle. Jennings went to the 2011 Pro Bowl with Cam Newton and thinks the Panthers’ quarterback owes him some money. Newton struggled during that game and rubbed his teammates the wrong way. It also didn’t help his NFC teammates...

No comparison: Newton says he and Kaepernick 'two different players'

Cam Newton doesn't like being compared to Colin Kaepernick. "Two different players," Newton said. Yet the Panthers' third-year quarterback certainly understands the parallels with his 49ers counterpart. They both entered the NFL in 2011. They're both big, strong-armed guys who can shred a secondary with their arms and terrorize a front seven with their feet...

Former 49ers longsnapper Brian Jennings: Cam Newton owes me $25K from Pro Bowl

In fact, one player who was on his team believes […]
