Former Bears QB Justin Fields Had 'Toxic Relationships' in Chicago

The Chicago Bears moved on from quarterback Justin Fields this offseason and selected Caleb Williams first overall in the NFL Draft to take his place. Arguably, the Bears are already in a better position with Williams but he hasn't taken the field yet and it remains to be seen how well he'll do at the professional level.

Now that Fields is gone from Chicago, the retrospective rumors are flooding the airwaves. According to a report, Fields had a bad relationship inside the quarterback's room during his rookie season.

Justin Fields and the Toxic Bears QB Room

Anyone who's paid attention to the Chicago Bears for the last several years knows how rocky Justin Fields' tenure was with the organization. After the Bears drafted Fields, fans were clamoring for him to be named the starter prior to Week 1.

But then head coach, Matt Nagy, had other plans and an unfortunate injury forced Fields into the starting role. According to the detailed report from journalist, Tyler Dunne, Fields was shunned by Nick Foles and Andy Dalton.

The veteran pair were isolated from Fields, leaving the rookie to fend for himself and learn the intricacies of the NFL. Some leaders eh?

But after the 2021 season, the Bears fired Matt Nagy and Ryan Pace, replacing them with Ryan Poles and Matt Eberflus. Although the 2022 season was a rollercoaster ride filled with despair leading to the first pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, Justin Fields shined.

He played well in his first full season but didn't have much help from both the offensive playmakers and the defense in general.

The Chicago Bears treated Fields well in the final 30 months of his time with the team. He learned what he could from those who would even talk to the Ohio State product and that set him up for an incomplete transition with questionable fundamentals at best.

If the rumors about the Bears' quarterback room in 2021 are true, then this should be the last time Chicago is involved with QB controversy. Will Caleb Williams be the pinnacle at the position for the Bears for the foreseeable future?
