Former Bears receiver Jim Keane passed away Tuesday morning at the age of 87. Jim Keane was among a group of former Bears honored this past season before a game against the Packers.

Keane played six of his seven NFL seasons with the Bears from 1946-51 and after winning the league title with the Monsters of the Midway as a rookie, he blossomed into a star in 1947, leading the NFL with a career-high 64 receptions for 910 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Keane remains the only player to Bears history to lead the team in receptions for four straight seasons, something he accomplished by catching 30 passes in 1948, 47 in 1949 and 36 in 1950. When he left the Bears following the 1951 season, Keane was the franchise’s all-time leader with 206 receptions and ranked second behind Ken Kavanaugh with 3,031 receiving yards.
