It looks like we were correct in our analysis of Doug Martin.  Early into camp Martin is impressing the coaching staff and players. "He made some explosive runs (Sunday) where you really see why they drafted him so high," guard Davin Joseph said. "He reminds you of a Ray Rice or Maurice Jones-Drew. He's very crafty and he really understands the run game."

The difficult part of the NFL is the mental aspect and Martin has already picked up on Schiano's philosophy and offensive game plan.  Having been tutored under Boise State Coach Peterson and his pro style offense Martin is well grounded and prepared to handle the terminology of an NFL playbook.  Look for Martin to make an immediate impact and play a significant role in the Buc's offense.

Buc's Coach Schiano, who coached Rice at Rutgers, sees a lot of similarities and believes Martin can handle a heavy workload in the NFL. "I think what allows him to have a chance is he is a stout guy," Schiano said. "If he was 5-9, 185, I would say not. He's close to 220 pounds. He's pretty rocked up." Martin is quick to the line of scrimmage and can make sharp cuts. He can power through arm tackles and can also catch the ball.  These abilities should lead to a productive rookie season.
